Games, like movies and TV, have become so expensive to make because studios and publishers have consolidated so much that they can’t keep the machine running with modest budgets to make modest profits. They have to slop together content with the lowest effort to extract the highest revenue from microtransactions and season passes because every game has to be a Call of Duty/Fortnite/Pokemon level hit or the studio is shuttered by the publisher.
Great games are still being made, just like great movies that aren’t remake or superhero slop are being made. Just not from big money but independent studios instead.
I mean some of the games were just good for their time. But then there are games like Spyro the Dragon, Ocarina of Time, Half Life, Banjo Kazooie and GameBoy Camera that hold up still as some of the best games in their genre ever. Sonic Adventure has basically never been topped by a game in its franchise since. (At least as far as 3D action games in the sonic series are concerned)
I’d actually consider Lemmy’s freedom of speech to be very similar to the US. Nobody on the network can limit your speech in your own instance but nobody has to platform your terrible speech and everyone is free to ignore your speech and exclude you to just participating on your own instance.
Online gaming wise Call of Duty: United Offensive (2004)
As for single player gaming, donkey Kong Land 1 for gameboy is the oldest game I’m actively playing. I have various NES launch games in my collection, those would be the oldest games in my collection that I have played.
I’ll say this product shouldn’t exist. Nintendo switch games are already playable on switch 2. Releasing this game again on a game system that can already play it is just a money grab.
Remakes and releases take development funds away from new IP. Same with live service. So I’m not a fan.
The new MW3 was literally just an expansion pack for the new MW2 sold for full price.
Same as BO6/7. People are only willing to be milked so much. It’s why when people say what their favorite CoD is, the oldest game mentioned is Black Ops 2
Your ISP is probably netflowing their side of the connection so they can troubleshoot it. They most likely have some sort of management/monitoring software for the CPE/ONT/Modem so it most likely would have a log of recent devices by MAC address. He probably was going to ask if your router was an asus because he saw the new device on the ONT port and thought maybe you had the wrong one plugged in and that was causing your issue
If you want algorithmic slip then why not just be on corporate owned platforms? The only people that want to feed you slop are those trying to harm you. The fediverse isn’t going to do that, they don’t have a motive for it.
I think learning the basics of subnetting, vlaning, switching, and routing and IOS were the most important parts of it. I don’t think I ever needed to really know how to configure a T1 or various other dead technology. But pretty much every vendor uses a clone of IOS and knowing the proper way to logically configure a network is important. I’ve seen so many abhorrent hacked together networks in my day.
I worked for an ISP who paid for mine back in the day. Took like a 3 day e-learning course and then examine. The real world experience was probably the best way to learn
Roblox is one of the most evil companies in the world, actively exploiting children for profit and for cheap labor. A joke for safety guardrails (you can’t even restrict your child from adding anyone as a friend or restrict them from receiving friend requests from total strangers, all you can do is block them after the fact). They allow children to create accounts with no email or verification so that they can get around parental controls and engage with predators if they are motivated and resourceful
Evidence of predators abusing children on their app and their response is to silence the people shining the light on it.
There may be good things that come from Roblox but it’s ran by some of the most despicable people and is a net negative in the world in my opinion
Apu is the only (well known) foreigner in Springfield. I doubt OP is trying to disparage Indians as much as just make a Simpson meme. (Not like there are Israeli, Pakistani, or Chinese characters he could have used) *edited to fix grammar mistakes
He basically was able to flash his talent after leaving buzzfeed. His stuff with them was pretty bad though. Recycled jokes, recycled poses and panels. Basically no creativity. Probably had to do with the workload
