Trump wants troops out of northern Syria, says Robert F Kennedy Jr
  • "We were talking about the Middle East, and he took a piece of paper and he drew on it [a] map of the Middle East with all the nations on it, which most Americans couldn't do," he told the right-wing broadcaster.

haha yeah and Kim Jong-il bowled a perfect 300 game at his very first try at bowling, scored 11 holes-in-one on his very first try at playing golf, wrote over 1,500 books while at university, composed 6 operas, could walk at 3 weeks of age and speak at 8 weeks of age.

  • Why is it in popular imagining, that ghosts are {MOSTLY} depicted as miserable lonely sad folks that are stuck to the places they've died in?
  • If you have ever had a dream where you can't get something right. Like, in your dream you know you need to do something - you even know exactly what it is that you need to do. You have no excuse for not doing it - maybe you actually try to do it - and yet you keep finding it is as yet undone.

You eventually wake up, because you are alive and you are dreaming. But if you are dead, you are not alive, you cannot wake up. You have all of the agency that you had when you were dreaming, which is none. Until you woke up - you were helpless in your dream, try as you might. The dead are helpless in their dream as well, but they do not have the luxury of waking up.

So have some pity for the dead.

  • Who can relate?
  • Same, Slackware, went over to Red Hate for a while then Debian - am using Ubuntu now. I'll never forget (in 1998) setting up Slackware as a server on an old spare 486 the company I worked for had laying around. It had a SCSI hard drive. Oh the pain. USENET was the only good reference, and you'd sometimes have to post and wait a day for a response if you just couldn't figure it out.

Got that server running and saved the company hundreds of dollars a month - they had been paying egregious fees to host brochureware. They thought I was Superman.

  • Meta accuses Australian government of failing to consider young people’s voices with world-first social media ban
  • This is worthless because it's not the children whose use of social media is destroying the world.

  • Love the annual tradition
  • I wish this worked for me. I don't get paranoid or anxious, but it just doesn't relax me at all. I basically feel no actual body effect, except my heart starts racing. Like, for hours. My eyes get like in the picture, but it's not cute, it's painful. I also get ravenously hungry. Like if it wasn't for my racing heart and bleary eyes I couldn't focus on anything else but shoving shit into my mouth. I get confused of course, which - duh - but I can't even focus on enjoying the daze because of all the suffering.

Guess I'm stuck with booze on the holidays.

  • Florida inmate compares herself to 'Virgin Mary' after getting pregnant from saran-wrapped semen tossed into air vent by fellow prisoner
  • Huh, I need to re-read the Gospels, I don't remember the part about Mary stuffing semen she got from the HVAC vents into her cooter. God indeed works in mysterious ways.

  • Kate Nash and Lily Allen on OnlyFans should be a wake-up call for the music industry
  • Why would this be a wake up call for the music industry? This shows they are operating at peak efficiency!

  • Got this yesterday for retail.
  • Heaven Hill's been around since 1935. They had 60 years to get to the rotgut era.

IMO, The high-class bourbon renaissance is just an Internet meme and the rising tide has lifted all boats. I'm sure it's really that it's just now distilled with great care and pride and is totally worth $170.

I've never bought a $170 bottle of liquor, however, and I don't intend to start now.

  • OK to be fair even in 1995 the most degenerate bourbon drinker wouldn't drink that shit. That was on par with like Mad Dog 20/20.

  • Got this yesterday for retail.
  • Kentuckians know this brand as formerly the worst $5 rotgut it was possible to buy that still called itself "Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey." That was then (1995) this is now. Behold, the power of marketing.

  • Man what a weird coincidence I ran into this right after finding out John Fugelsang was in Coyote Ugly lol. I didn't even know he was an actor. I do know he is awesome.

  • I just WON'T

  • Democrats sit here and use memes to beat themselves up over being such a shit bunch of losers and Republicans would have claimed victory even if Trump lost and very likely would have had their followers shooting guns about it. Yeah there's a disconnect somewhere.

  • Man caught on video removing, ripping up Harris-Walz signs outside Raleigh early voting site
  • I thought Trump was a shoo-in? Christ knows that's the message these people are getting over and over again, drummed into their heads so they can get good and pissed off when they're told the truth.

Jake would have kicked Alexander's ass change my mind

Alexander, although being a Klingon by birth, was weak, having been raised by his only half Klingon mother among humans rather than Klingons. Whereas Jake, although human, was raised with a mind to take care of himself because of his absent father.

I believe Jake could take him. Hell, I believe Nog could take him.

Question: When will a comment you made on the Fediverse not show up on your user page?

I've noticed recently that a couple comments I made don't show up in my user page. If someone responds to my comment I can get to it through the notifications page, otherwise, I have no way to find/see it.

The message I can see through responses I can see was posted on to lemmygrad.ml, but I only ever use my lemmy.world account, so I assume the reason it doesn't show up on my user page has something to do with federation, but I just made a post that shows it was posted on lemmy.ml but it shows up on my user page. Is there any way to know when a post you're making might not show up on your user page?
