Have you ever had an illness that most people don't understand?
  • I've had this too. Sometimes when I would stretch to crack my sternum, I would get this wave of heat and eventual pain in my chest. So it was a gamble every time I felt that I had to crack it. It's been a lot better in recent years but it never really went away completely.

  • Why are actors smoking in movies and tv shows?
  • Thanks for this comment. I was about to post about it being 2023 and not understanding why smoking is still a thing. Everyone is different I guess.

The historical movies/shows argument does makes. Live and let live I guess.

  • The backlash has surprised me a bit. I agree the price is a bit steep but considering the userbase is only a fraction of what Reddit has, it's understandable that the price would be higher.

I just didn't expect such negative reactions to either the ad component or the price. A lot have mentioned that it could become a form of gatekeeping for newcomers. I just hope it won't turn out that way.

  • I've used Lemmy more in the past 12 hours than I have in the past month since signing up. All because of Sync.
  • One thing that worries me about Foss is the eventual lack of updates and potentially become abandonware. Many people mentioned that the Foss apps protects are a side project for most developers. They could easily lose interest or have other things happen in their life that take up more of their time.

These arguments are valid for closed source as well I agree, but this being the devs main focus makes me feel better about updates in the long term.

  • The older the better
  • Manipulative/controlling behavior sent through texts with his ex that she saved, shared on twitter and told other women to avoid in their relationships. I don't remember his ex's name right now though.

  • Will Reddit ever cave in?
  • Agreed that most Reddit users don't care about 3rd party apps. They are also more likely just to be lurkers and not interact with the content as much, besides up and downvoting.

So if a larger number of the power users leave, Reddit's content could become more stale and just turn people off from going to the site.

Of course this is all very hypothetical and I don't have stats to back any of this up. It's just a hunch.

Feed gets randomly filled with new posts

When going through the post feed, I'll randomly get 5-10 new posts added to the top of the feed. These 5-10 posts are all new with 1 or 2 upvotes only. Sometimes all from the same community.

This happens on local, subscribed, or all feeds. It also doesn't matter what sorting option is selected.

Is this a known issue or an expected behavior?
