Fun facts about Italy!
  • Ah, plenty of people have been taking things literally on Lemmy, there's been many people not understanding the irony and getting pissed off at jokes.

But yeah, it's meant to be ironic, based on the dumb shit Americans say and post to Facebook. If you see it on Facebook, are you American?

  • Fun facts about Italy!
  • If you truly think that, you really don't understand the post. There zero chance you are from Europe if you don't understand this post, as it includes certain things that piss people from Italy off that are obvious to Italians (and most Europeans are aware of).

Unless you're autistic and are just taking the satire literally

  • Fox News' Greg Gutfeld suggests "civil war" because "elections don't work"
  • Honestly we should unite and perform a coordinated attack on fox news, the same way that anonymous took over russian news stations, russian sites, and even hacked russian GPS.

This isn't just a case of freedom of speech, this is mobilising, terrorising and seditious speaking. The US government themselves know best just how powerful this propaganda is, as they've used it themselves against many governments. They're doing the exact same thing at fox news.

Look into the Jakarta method, a book written about how the US government destabilised and dissected government's that they viewed as hostile and communist.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jakarta_Method

We have known for a long time that fox news creates soviet style propaganda, but now, with Russia being hostile and China semi-hostile, surely they're trying to destabilise at best, start a civil war at worst. Why doesn't the USA do anything to stop this clear and obvious cooperation with the enemy?

Freedom of speech is not freedom to incide sedition. It doesn't protect people from convincing traitor's to pick up their weapons. Fox news should never have won that lawsuit where they claimed "no rational person would believe it" because that's irrelevant. A good portion of Americans (30%+) are irrational. So why discount them? It's like saying "only a criminal would shoot someone if we paid them to do it, therefore when we pay them to do it, it's not our fault". Well yeah, only a criminal would do it, but you still paid them!

  • Hello fellow Europeans - First entry?
  • Wait so the flairs won't be automatic or essential?

That sounds shit tbh. Majority would be [US] anyway with the current state of things.

I hope that they do make community flairs because these kind of communities will never flourish without them.

I got 2 people from the USA telling me my meme was offensive. Out of 5 comments. On Reddit, hundreds of people commented on the same meme, and none of them said it was offensive. Why? Because they weren't American, and didn't have an innate desire to be offended on behalf of someone else. These motherfuckers do a genealogy test and get 10% Irish and suddenly they're offended by a meme about Ireland when true Irish people just spread banter and find it funny.

    This is the meme:

  • Finally i can shitpost about france on Lemmy!
  • Most people here are American. It's kind of sad, I was hoping to switch to here from Reddit, but without my favourite sub it's pointless.

No flairs and the majority of people are Americans who don't understand our humour and get offended. Many don't get sarcasm or satire either. It's just a sad attempt at the sub.

  • We need to get rid of the garbage patch in the Atlantic ocean
  • I guess you're very young? Your comment is, honestly, ridiculously dumb. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're a young teen.

The use of the word "rates" indicates a ratio or percentage.

It's pretty obvious that I was talking about knife stats per 100,000 people.

Basically it means that the statistics are a proportion. It takes into account the population..

Essentially, in the USA, despite the population being ~5x more than the UK, knife homicide in the USA is ~40x more. This makes knife homicide around 8x more common per capita. Per capita means "on average per person".

Knife homicide, per 100000 people USA: 0.6

Knife homicide, per 100000 people UK: 0.08

  • Uh no you're just judging the UK based off its worst politicians and people.

Then you're judging the USA of its best politicians and people.

Don't you see how ignorant that is? The republican party isn't America to you, but the less extreme Tory party in the UK (which gains way less votes as a percentage than the republicans) represents the UK in your mind?

The UK is way tamer politically and much further from fascism. It has less identity politics, more rights for gay people, the ability to abort, and way less human trafficking. Additionally it's chiller, has more worker rights and unions per capita, it has universal healthcare.

The USA has insane levels of gun crime and homicide via guns, and it's not even close to the UK's basically non existent gun crime.

You know how Americans act like the UK has terrible knife crime? It turns out American knife crime is WAY worse per capita. All this despite the fact that the USA has so much gun crime.

And the gun crime stats don't even consider the people who weren't convicted that really should have been. For the sample, the police officers that freely shoot people, the "self defence" where guns were never necessary and shot an unarmed and harmless man, and the random stray bullets that kill people.

And then let's not even get into education and lunch money for poor students, cults, racism (and systemic racism), income inequality, and many more issues.

Don't be stupid. Criticising the UK for the reasons you've given is throwing stones from a glass house.

I honestly can't believe the ignorance you show. Do you really view the UK worse than the USA?

  • The lower image is a work of art tbh
  • The alcohol industry? Lmao what? Do you have a comparison to the UK?

Tbh this sub is full of cringe. Reddit is so much better, I haven't argued with anyone there, but since there's shitloads of Americans who take things seriously here it ruins it

  • The lower image is a work of art tbh
  • Damn I guess English are assholes then.

    What about Scots?

Tbh Amsterdam is a destination that some scrotes go to so I'm not surprised that some are fucking assholes.

I'm just talking about normal people in the USA who are cool when sober, middle class, and seemingly normal. Then when they're drunk they get angry. I saw this so many times. USA has a lot of angry drinks.

In the UK there is some people looking for fights, but your friend won't randomly get angry at you for no reason just because he is drunk.

  • My English mate in the USA didn't have the posh English accent, and everyone would ask him why he didn't sound English, then they'd do a exaggerated posh English accent (why do Americans love doing this haha) and then ask him why he sounds more like me (a Scot), he was from northern England so that's why he sounded more like me.

I'm posting some of my images I posted to Reddit and some other people's that I have saved in the past.

Most of my comments are satirical, sarcastic, or banter. Same goes for a lot of my posts.
