I had a peek at season 5, new captain and no ivanova. The new captain has some of the Ivanova attributes from what I can see in the first episode.
First impressions I don't think it's a huge loss, I found ivanova the least engaging of everyone, Marcus was an interesting foil for her as he was so engaging.
That's a lot of rape... Humans have such a fascination with some types of "moral problems" yet seem to care nothing for others.
Interesting, the story feels finished to a certain degree. I'll go looking for this third space movie.
What an absolutely amazing story! I thought it was reasonably well paced as well. Best week of recovering from covid ever.
Sheridan getting shafted by Earth in the end and still out politicking them was the chef's kiss. After watching that over one week, What now?
Trying to get back into the whole work thing this week. Still recovering from a bug so just doing wee bits at a time then heading home exhausted.
On the upshot, I worked really hard before Christmas to set this year up well and it has paid dividends, still very little to do yet as I had preloaded everything last year!
Really wanting to prioritise family this year and not continuing to be a consumer whore. Which might mean a paycut, but while the kids are still young I think it's worth it.
And not even missed the kids once?
And they did a "girls' mission" which didn't feel like those forced "girls'" missions.
Just finished season 3, fan-flipping-tastic. Season 4 and cortage is a great new character.
To be fair, I've wanted to like the show for decades. I love DS9 as a binge watch and recently flipped between a rewatch and giving B5 another crack. I think I would often get to episode 7 in season 1 and lose interest. It hooked me this time. The jump from pilot to episode 1 was a little jarring, but man it had me completely this time.
All the characters are so brilliant in their own way. Faceless weird aliens who say less than 3 words in an interaction (Kosh and "Kosh") have dramatic character development and differences.
The "nice guy at first" but jerk doctor who's just like his dad who he struggles with.
Just waiting to see if walkabout works for him.
G'Kar and Molari, the aides... Ah it's such a rich tapestry.
About 15 episodes into season 3, holy crap it just keeps getting better. They manage to do the "war" thing sooo much better than ds9 did the dominion war.
Also Walter Koenig is fantastic. Just watching Ship of Tears.
Just got up to the episode where they introduce the Nightwatch. It's a brilliant piece of writing depicting the use of "special roles" to "help".
They instantly reminded me of the "brown shirts" and equivalent that Mussolini and Hitler used when Fascism was first popularised.
It's scary that it is still so relevant. Almost as if we don't learn from history (or science fiction for that matter).
These are an essential piece of beach/holiday gear to fix your jandals(flipflops or thongs in Australia)with.
I get visions of HAL or that Simpsons Halloween special with the sentient house.
Failing that there is a good has strut replacement place in Auckland too.
Enjoy that no kids thing! The break without them every now and again is so essential. We only manage one or two weekends a year with four of the blighters.
Ignore my ramblings. I'm just frustrated at the state of our media/news and can't think of a solution.
Also enjoying the episode on fanatical xenophobia too!
Skim of plaster and a couple of coats of primer/sealer? (I'm not a builder)
Looking good.
I was curious if this was the shed you were putting up! Hilarious. I read the reviews which matches with your progress updates.
Was going to get this for my place. Will be interested to hear your review once it's done.
I kinda think we should have an independent, protected and taxpayer funded media service. Would make for better politicians.
Just watching Babylon 5 through as I sit recovering from another bout of COVID. This line from the episode "Infection" was brilliant.
Really enjoying the binge so far, even if the jump between the pilot and episode 1 was a little jarring.
Haha, the pragmatic outlook! Love it.
I like having knives, forks, spoons left to right as that is how I say it "grab a knife and fork".
I am staying in an Airbnb and they have the spoons separating the knives and forks and wonder if this is in insane or maybe I am the minority/insane one?
