It's going to take more than 2 months to cleanup whatever is going in the manga. Chapters are randomly getting redrawn and totally changed all willy nilly. I've more or less given up on it.
I guess I'll have to look into self hosting my library again on my server. Any tips for which software/stack to run?
Support for downloading from most major sources going forwards like Mangaplus and various aggregators (and I guess scraping out the last data from Mangadex before it's gone) is important. Or some other kind of automation for updating and downloading new chapters on release and other metadata.
Preferably something headless running in Docker (web GUI optional), and the ability to sync to Mihon is crucial. I've been looking at Kavita, Komga, and Suwayomi but haven't decided yet.
I hope this is the only instance of a takedown of this magnitude for a while, but I fear the publishers are now smelling the blood in the water now that the Mangadex team have folded to pressure once. Worst case scenario they get repeated takedowns and vanish over time, or shut down like Batoto. I guess this will just repeat the cycle of; community manga site gets popular -> popular community site gets taken down -> surge in use of aggregators -> aggregators increase ads -> community gathers around new popular site. Rinse and repeat, as manga publishers refuse realize what Gabe Newell has known for decades, piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem.
I gave up years ago. When a minor character is introduced in one chapter and then is not even mentioned in over 100 chapters it may as well just be a new character at that point in my opinion. The main cast and major supporting characters has always been solid in Komi-san though.
That felt very rushed. Or well, pretty normal for a timeskip ending I suppose, there wasn't really much of a plot anyway. Wish we could have gotten a bit more though.
I guess this is the beginning of the final arc. Can't really see how this can progress further considering Kado is dead. I hope they give the series a proper sendoff and it doesn't go on forever with a "the Kado in mind says this is trash" shtick beyond this final script. There isn't really any point in introducing another rival/deuteragonist, as the whole plot is built around Daisuke chasing Kado.
An unexpected and quick axe. The overarching element driving the plot got "solved" by blowing up Earth. I guess the mangaka drew themselves into a corner by solving every conflict in a few chapters, going "Haha, actually everyone is a good guy", and not really building on the larger political conflict back on Earth.
