Welcome New Users!

  • Welcome!

Still mostly hanging out at Reddit but I see the writing on the wall and am trying to at the very least diversify, and hopefully make a full switch soon

This is true for a lot of the new users, despite what the memes may suggest 😄

Is there a particular community on reddit that you'd like to see more of on here?

  • A Lenovo 2in1, bought without much research after my previous device died unexpectedly

It's decent and it has fewer issues than my old ones

Things I want to change next time

    • can't upgrade the RAM on this one, and it's just barely enough these days
    • I barely use the touchscreen, and a separate tablet would have been better
  • Which community is it?

    To summarize

    • admins are the people that run the website (ex. lemmy.world)
    • moderators are the people that manage a particular community (ex. I am a moderator for !canada@lemmy.ca)

If you want to add someone else as a moderator for your community, you can either

    • Find a post or comment that they made in your community
    • Select the menu and look for 'Appoint as Moderator'
  • Some brainstorming from me:

    • Ideally people do not buy more teslas
    • An initial goal would be to use the vehicle without it phoning home. Would the TeslaMate project be sufficient for that?
    • Long term, would it be possible to replace the software running on the car's console? Or would it be better to tear out the console and replace it with something else?

Alternatively, what would a recycling/conversion program look like?

  • Ok yep, I have the display issue as well. Interestingly, it only affects some of the equations. I'll take a better look this evening

  • Can you link the article so that others can take a look?

  • Gmail's search and filters have been annoying for some time now. This feels like an overpowered bandaid to that problem

  • Thórsdóttir met the boy while working as a counselor for a religious group, the Icelandic broadcaster said, before giving birth to his child when she was 23 and he was 16.

The age of consent is 15, according to the country’s penal code. However, it is illegal for adults to have sexual relations with a child under 18 if they are entrusted to teach them, with perpetrators facing up to 12 years in prison.

The father told RUV he had never seen himself as a victim in this situation, but noted that he was in a difficult place in his life and at home turned to the church group for support.

  • Manually downloading HTML posts would be more difficult, but it might be possible by parsing the data export you can download from Facebook

  • Very true, especially fresh fruits 😊

  • Gaining skills and improving yourself helps as well! You'll be better suited to help other people should you need to.

    • taking classes, such as first aid
    • physical strength and well-being
    • any other area of self-sufficiency, such as learning about and helping with a community garden

Spite is powerful, with many ways to burn it

  • I'm not aware of any, but it would be cool to crowdsource! It's fairly simple to upload your own sticker pack to Signal

    https://support.signal.org/hc/en-us/articles/360031836512-Stickers#sticker_creator_steps

So if you stick to those guidelines, you can make your own. The file size requirement is a bit harsher than other platforms, but you can always speed up the animation. It ends up looking more emphatic lol

While we're at it, having some more country specific packs would be cool. Right now there's not much, this is what I found under Canada

  • Hi @engene@lemmy.ca

Please keep the original title when submitting an article. You can put your own commentary in the body of the post or in the comment section :)

I didn't remove the post yet, but we're getting reports about it

  • I think it would be better to just ask them directly, and make them admit how the system works. Otherwise, as the other comment suggested, they'll just delay the ads or have a special 'demo' mode

It's nice to see the word of mouth working, I've seen a lot of mentions recently of people being recommended here by friends and family members

  • I should have specified, people we're downvoting you

But looks like the score is positive again 🙂
