Google's trying to DRM the internet, and we have to make sure they fail
  • @uthredii It's kind of interesting that this is coming out after Ai stuff like chatgpt and dall-e came out. iirc, those tools scrap a lot of data from the internet from all places [main reason why twitter had it's rate-limiting, if it's true and not bullshit].

I get that scraping is pretty bad, but putting drm on everything just isn't the right way to go about it. It's like nuking all forests to destroy mosquitos; the mosquitos will die, but so will everything.

  • @FermatsLastAccount @BigTechBlows what cloud vps do you have? If you don’t mind me asking.

I’m asking cuz I’ve been thinking on self-hosting something for me and a couple of people close to me. There’s so many VPS providers that it’s hard to choose, especially when there are some expensive than others.

  • @PrivateOnions @BigTechBlows Holy fuck, this is the most funny and genius tactic i've seen. questionable? sure, but hey, still funny. I'd probably do the same, just to bypass "the persuasion phase".

has the same ingenuity as "have a screenshot of messages as your lockscreen wallpaper, that way you can sneak out of any social situation imaginable."

  • @SkullHex2 not sure if this is an adequate answer, or even if what you need, but someone on a different post on lemmy posted this service on it:

    https://redact.dev/services

It’s a service to mass auto delete comments and posts on certain platforms and instant messaging services. I haven’t tried it at all, and still have yet to read their privacy policy to see if they glow brighter than the sun or not. Posting it so that others can try it, and give feedback about it…

  • Lighttube - A lightweight, privacy respecting alternative frontend for YouTube written in ASP.NET
  • @Zenaida_macroura i'm probably one of the only people that actually likes that current youtube layout. Just make some overhauls here and there, and it's practically alright.

hopefully there's more instances that show up in the near future, and the development goes pretty smoothly..
