  • This just in: intentionally misrepresenting something has a 100% chance of it being misrepresented.

    Let’s try again:

    • proper tools are important, but not as important as the people using them
    • documentation is important, but not as important as the software functioning correctly
    • working with the customer to accomplish their needs is more important than adhering to the letter of a contract
    • plans are important, but dogmatically applying them above the spirit of their intent is harmful
  • If we’ve just met, not at all.

If we’ve been best friends for 10 years, that would sting a little.

  • I think getting the moderator mails was just too much. Like it’s a platform filled with people racing to the bottom and you get to see all the worst as a direct feed.

I don’t know how Reddit mods do it.

  • I spent my youth terrified of black widows because one of them sent my dad to the hospital when I was a small child; he had to be intubated and everything. Really messed me up seeing him like that.

  • It’s a sad time to be alive when people genuinely believe that being openly hostile and combative is the same thing as constructive criticism.

Banning seems totally reasonable to me. Nobody is obligated to put up with that shit.

  • I had to stop using Next Door entirely.

I set my neighborhood up years ago because I thought it was just a fantastic idea for a place to reach out to people who actually live near you. Reality has not borne that out.

ND seems like the place to go if you hate yourself and your neighbors and you really want everyone to know about it. It was like 70% busybodies and paranoid old people, 20% lost pet reminders, and 10% people being horrible to each other via the comments on the other 90%.

Also, I am now painfully aware of how much people hate the homeless. Just loathe and despise them for the crime of existing; while blissfully unaware that it’s just because they’re scared of how close they are to being homeless themselves.

  • I… I have no idea if this is satire or a legitimate quote and that is so depressing.

  • Ken can suck a dick, Frank looks like a stand-up fellow and I approve.

  • Physical media today isn’t really much better though, increasingly frequently all a disk gets you is a license to activate a digital copy anyways, with a “must be online for first play” requirement.

  • I’m not blaming you for the state of the world, I’m blaming you for taking your fatalist nonsense and using it to try to bring down others with you.

  • This attitude is what lets the government and big tech get away with so much bullshit.

“Well it’s happening already so crying about it isn’t going to change anything because you know that protest has never ever been effective even once ever and I kinda like the taste of boot anyways so what’s the big deal?”

  • I had to look this up; looks like the charges were dropped, which is slightly different from a ruling of innocence. The AG isn’t saying he didn’t do it, just that they can’t prove it through evidence.

I don’t like assuming guilt, especially when it ruins careers before any proof can be established, but I also remember hearing that he was kinda a dickhead… so maybe he just didn’t do himself any favors?

  • AA is my airline of choice, so I guess it’s time to find a new one.

  • I used bazzite on my ROG Ally for a couple of days before I went back to windows because it didn’t reliably work. Crashes abound and some games that work fine on my Steam Deck just refused to open.

Hopefully one day it gets ironed out.

  • Learning to work the clutch and feel the friction zone is a more difficult skill than some want to admit.

Learning to drive a motorcycle was a bit overwhelming, I remember my instructor talking about applying the brakes with right hand and foot while disengaging the clutch with the left hand and downshifting with the left foot… and thinking “how the hell is anyone supposed to keep track of all that!”

I do miss my stick shift though, it was more fun to drive even if less practical.

  • It makes me so angry because children are vulnerable and trusting; exploiting that to get them to believe in nonsense is evil.

  • Ugh I wanted one of these so fucking badly when I was a kid.

  • He’s begging for money from big oil, maybe possibly potentially related to this particular hot take.
