This Is Exactly How an Elon Musk-Funded PAC Is Microtargeting Muslims and Jews With Opposing Messages
  • His PAC is targeting multiple groups separately with conflicting messages instead of advertising to users across the platform broadly with messages that don’t contain contradictions. The PAC is trying to convince everyone that Harris supports whoever they assume to be each ad recipient’s big enemy.

  • Trump’s Rally Just Went Full Nazi With Bloodthirsty Immigration Threat
  • He was a sore loser even in 2016 when he did win because he was upset he didn’t win the popular vote, only the electoral college. He had fake electoral maps he showed off that painted pretty much the whole country voting for him and he repeatedly claimed that he won the popular vote, but democrats cheated and that is why it looked like Clinton won the popular vote. No matter how this vote goes, Trump will act outraged that cheating happened and made his numbers underperform, even if he wins in a landslide.

  • Texas reaches over 18 million registered voters, the highest it's ever been
  • My entire county only has one early voting location. I miss the convenience of voting in a random place like a nearby store when I lived in a more populated area instead of having to drive halfway across the county.

  • “I Don’t Want to Die”: Needing Mental Health Care, He Got Trapped in His Insurer’s Ghost Network
  • The patient has insurance but once you have insurance you have to find healthcare professionals who accept your insurance, doctors don’t have to accept any insurance plan. The insurance company here has a list of health providers that accept their coverage (we call this in network) and you can go to them for care. The insurance company’s list is poorly maintained so many of the listed providers went out of business, stopped accepting the insurance plan, or stopped accepting new patients.

If you go to a doctor that is out of network, the insurance company charges you much much more for the visit if they cover it at all, or you may have to pay completely out of pocket.

  • Ron DeSantis smeared this trans candidate. She just won her primary.
  • I think DeSantis was banking on Trump not running for a second term because he was in jail or too busy golfing or choked on some ketchup steak. Then he stubbornly pressed on when Trump entered the ring and there was no way he was going to outTrump Trump.

  • Vote.
  • This is nothing compared to the original Frito burrito. This inferior version came in the era where Taco Bell filled everything halfway with rice to cut down on using ingredients that actually taste good, but cost more.

  • Vote.
  • Taco Bell is its own nostalgic flavor. It’s comfort food and like a lot of comfort food it isn’t amazing, but it is very familiar and accessible. Also there is a wide variance in quality of local burrito shops. Some are amazing and others are underwhelming. Taco Bell is consistent and predictable from one side of the country to the other. What it lacks in soul it makes up in consistency which is nice when you are exhausted and not in the mood to be surprised. When I want good, fresh food with lots of cilantro and peppers I go for the local shops though. Taco Bell factory packets can’t compare to a nice fresh batch of salsa.

  • 'Sale-leasebacks' offer to help homeowners needing cash. Some lose thousands
  • This was pretty much exactly how it sounds. People in financial trouble sell their house to the lender with an agreement to rent it from the lender and keep living there, then the lender jacks up the rent and they get evicted and the house is sold. After fees and everything else they may not get to keep much of the equity from the house sale and potentially could lose all equity and end up owing the lender. As tenants they don’t have all the legal protections a homeowner in foreclosure would have. The lender claims all its customers know what they are getting into.

  • Researchers invent 100% biodegradable 'barley plastic'
  • The question then becomes how well does this work in place of traditional plastics? Does it have the same strength and water resistance? It needs to hold up to moisture in order to be used for takeout. If food partially breaks it down, people will be ingesting it so toxicity is also a concern. It will be interesting to see where this goes. Even if it can only replace shopping bags, that will still be a huge improvement. So many bags blow away in the wind and I live in an area that made it illegal for cities to ban single use shopping bags.
