What are the most annoying things about English?
  • And even then, going to another dialect, you're still in the wrong.

  • I need RiF comment navigation to survive
  • Jerboa being very unstable, I "downloaded" the website, I don't know how to explain it, android treats it as if it was a stand-alone app. For my usecase, it's similar to RiF, I can't quite tell if there is some feature missing.

  • Catticus can’t seem to catch the birbs
  • At first I thought we're looking at a ceiling.

  • What are the most annoying things about English?
  • Why the fuck are there no rules for pronunciation?? There is very little consistency in English.

I mean cases like yes - eyes, Kansas - Arkansas.

  • How do I properly promote a community?
  • The community's content will also appear on loca!

  • Twitter threatens to sue Meta over Threads app
  • Do it elon, I bet you don't have the balls. You're not a real man if you don't sue. Prove us just how much money you have, spend billions on lawyers! Demand that Zucc forfeits Meta to you in compensation. Do it.

  • Threads privacy hell
  • That's the fun part! GDPR requires these things to be clear and whatever waiver you sign doesn't hold.

  • Threads privacy hell
  • Sounds like they found their life easier by just not bothering with EU. Now I wonder, what kind of result you would've gotten if they had decided to try and comply enough so that GDPR wouldn't crucify them again.

  • Can we settle this: how many holes does a straw have?
  • What about a tank that has one input and one output hole, technically much like a straw? This is why I call the edges of a straw a hole, so straw has two holes.

Or, what about drinking straws with more than one succy pipe?

  • Kansalaisaloitepalvelu - Melurajat moottoriajoneuvoille

  • What from reddit do you hope to never see on lemmy?
  • The "obligatory" jokes, copypasted every time someone writes a certain thing. I would always downvote them. I am thinking about blocking users that continue that here.

  • Nato-Suomen ensimmäinen alokaserä aloittaa tänään palveluksensa
  • Joo, näinhän se on ny ku natossa ollaan, valmistumisen jälkee lähdetää maailmalle!

  • What made you pick the Lemmy server you are on?
  • I was going to choose sopuli.xyz but you need to give them a reason to why you want there and I never heard back from them and logging in does nothing, so I assume I was not selected. I say it would be fair if there was some message to go f myself so that I wouldn't be held in eternal limbo.

So I chose lemmy.world as it's a general purpose instance and immediate registry.

  • Do you guys think this is the start of something bigger?
  • I am cautiously hopeful that fedi will become significant in a while.

  • speaking of alternatives, what brand do people hate that actually has a decent alternative?
  • Sounds like you had issues exclusively with hardware, perhaps you should'ce gone for a different manufacturer. My personal anecdote has never seen anything break (that I didn't cause myself).

  • Choice of Language
  • Fediverse allows you to filter languages you know and this is the way the filter knows what language the post is. I'm sure you can just not select a language but it runs the risk that some people might not see it.

  • Demi & Ace is an aromantic comedy, following two best friends on the asexual spectrum navigating through their early adulthood and questions of romance and friendship. Their first episode just released!

  • Letting nature be the way nature is can only enhance a society. Trying to force people into one box increases stress and unrest, this can be seen when we compare nations who are more lenient on the diversity of gender, sexuality and romanticism, vs nations that try to control people. I am of course not saying this is the only key to have a stable nation, but one in many. Of course, if your society is built on top of a strict set of rules that everyone must oblige on, that society will unfortunately crumble eventually. I can't think of a place that has such a culture or society, that would fail because of people being queer.

I would also like to address some of your wordings, this is not an ideology, let alone a radical one. It is everyone's personal experience in life. Similar to being left handed, having blue eyes or being unable to discern some shades of color. In other words, features that are set before one is born. Instead, an ideology is something we have decided upon. For example, an ideology for a perfect life is to have a 9 to 5 job, a family that only consist of one man, one woman and multiple kids, which all live in a house they own. This is not a natural evolution of life but a man-made setup. I specifically chose an ideology from 1950's USA, I'm sure you see this is not how it works today as it is not achievable by everyone, and so the ideology of a perfect life has changed. I hope yours will too, some day.

  • Some posts show they have more comments than I can see

Rather often, I see a post here with say 5 comments, but I only see one or two under the post. Why is this? Am I perhaps defederated from those posters' instance?

I was unaware of just how bad Lebanon has it, recovering from all this is going to take decades.
