  • It's my favorite Godzilla movie because of this aspect. There's a scene where I lost it in the theater when the >!Prime Minister is completely certain in telling the press that Godzilla will absolutely never, not in a million years, not make landfall.. only to have an underling whisper in his ear that Godzilla just made landfall.!<

I worked for a Japanese company at the time, and could recognize that it wasn't even heightened for parody. That's just exactly how it is.

  • The thing about cancer is that it will eventually kill itself. It destroys the environment it lives in until it becomes uninhabitable, killing both the host environment and the cancer itself.

So, the cancer is already going to die, it's only a matter of if it takes us with it or not. The ONLY option for survival is to kill it before it kills us. There is no siding with cancer and hoping you won't be affected.

(Capitalism is the cancer, in case mods get nervous)

  • The difference is being labeled "abnormal" by a person you know vs. by society. As a society, we used to beat children who used their left hand to write until they started acting "normal".

The thought itself that left-handedness and right-handedness are different is not harmful. However, when you start labeling one as 'normal' and the other as a 'generic abnormality', you start shifting people's perspectives and suddenly we get a situation where we call left-handed people "Sinister". (The word literally means left-handed. We added the evil connotations afterwards because of the prejudice against left-handed people. We also did the same in reverse for "dexterity".)

You might not see the harm immediately in the small scale, but it's absolutely intended to be a step towards dehumanizing queer people. As others have said as well, homosexuality is incredibly common in nature. Most giraffe sex is gay sex. It's just not taught in school because.. say it with me.. "It's abnormal."

It's really not though. It's just different, and different doesn't mean bad.

  • Your argument has been used countless times in history for a number of "abnormalities" that turn out to just be differences without distinction.

"Listen, I'm a supporter of red-heads, but don't we basically understand that it's a genetic abnormality? Maybe 'illness' is a bit harsh, but they're just not common enough in society to be considered normal."

  • Interesting how your upset at the true statement said sarcastically, not the misinformed, incorrect statement said sarcastically.

There's a double standard you're still holding on to here, and it isn't about magic Internet points.

  • "Back in my day, we didn't need no 'feel-good pills' and no psychiatrists.

No, we just bled out in the bath, and god-dammit, we liked it."

-Will Wood, Marsha, thankk you for the dialectics, but I need you to leave

  • All words are made up. That is a true statement, not 'a wrong' thing to say.

Just because it wasn't polite doesn't mean it's wrong. You're putting morals on how to correct people on a subject you don't fully understand yourself.

  • For me, it's that we were told that we live in a society with rules, but then people with money and power routinely break those rules. It's incredibly frustrating and confusing trying to understand and navigate multiple rule systems when only one system is written down, but the unwritten one is being followed.

It makes me irate seeing people lie just enough to steal money from those around them, but not enough to go to jail. Most NT people don't have the time/energy to care, but it's like a hot poker in my side knowing that someone is "breaking the rules" and getting away with it.

    • Clearly states problem
    • Apologizes
    • Identified impacted users and already reversed the outcome
    • Reaffirms commitment to fair and enjoyable gameplay for everyone

This is how it's done. I don't play the game, but I'm interested if this is how their community is moderated.

  • Bob actually tried to milk the insurance companies for money, IIRC. He wasn't entirely a monster, but definitely had no chill.

Dr. Bob Kelso: What the hell people? I saw Maggie Kent in the park. Why didn't we treat her?
Nurse Carla Espinosa: She has no insurance.
Dr. Bob Kelso: Well, why didn't we do what we always do? Why didn't you fix it while I turned my back and pretend not to notice? You know the dance.

  • Good job, buddy! You're getting it! Now just go one step further and think about what it means to pay for insurance. How does that change who pays the doctors and nurses out of those three options? You're so close!

  • Their bedtime story to play on repeat while they sleep:

"Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."
