It's an ongoing joke in several futuristic fandoms like Star Trek and Futurama

Humanity beats global warming by going through nuclear winter caused by global nuclear war.

Lesson learned.

Samsung S4 ... it took me a long while to figure out that I could program it to control most things with a IR signal

A fantastic phone because it was one of the last models to have a replaceable battery ... a SDXC memory card slot ... temperature gauge / humidity / barometer sensor .... a heart monitor tester ... and a headphone jack!

By the time I knew how to use it, I had already upgraded to the latest Samsung phones

I think we are more like the trash-pandas of the fediverse (and I mean that with a lot of love and respect .... because I love trash-pandas (aka raccoons))

We occupy the quiet corners of the fediverse and keep to ourselves and keep ourselves busy with the little activity we have. We make lots of stuff and we are building a huge underground community.

But like our real world trash-pandas, eventually we're going to be noticed and people will want to either encourage us for the lovable, smart, cute little creatures that we are .... or they'll start harassing us to get out of their attic and garage.

My favourite is to just get an old 3.5mm stereo male cord and cut off the end and carry the end around. Carry a few around with you when you think you might need one. When you see a public TV blaring whatever, just plug in the cord into the audio output of the TV and it will turn off the sound on most TVs

No remote or setting will ever change it until someone figures out what happened to the plug

Co-workers are like family

You can choose your friends but you can't choose your family

I'd rather spend as much time away from my co-workers so that in the long run, I can appreciate the times I have to be around them at work because I have to .... not because I want to.

I do the same with my family (as much as I love them) ... if I spend too much time with them, eventually, I'll find reasons to not want to be around them and our relationship suffers ... the less time I spend with them, the more I appreciate them and the more they appreciate me.

No one in power cares what average people think .... even if it is an overwhelming majority of the population

All these people in power care about is what rich wealthy people think and what corporate leaders and investors think

It's a world run on money ... not on democratic consensus.

Instead of coming up with cheap gimmicks for your workers in order to save yourself and the company money while playing PR games with your workforce .... just pay them all a bonus, give them time off and let them all decide what they want to do with their time and money.

It's best not to respond

Their game is to play back and forth rage baiting that leads to nowhere and nothing ... so the only way to shut them down is to never speak to them or answer them or acknowledge them. The silence and non-response just kills them.
