  • Safety glasses

    Wear them

They're not trying to kill people, they're trying to wound them. It's a lot more traumatic for the victim and the witnesses if they all see someone blinded by these shots. And they don't care if you go blind because they want to scare the shit out of everyone.

So wear safety glasses .... actual workplace csa approved safety glasses, the type that wrap around your eyes and protect all around. They're easy to find and cheap.

Wear them and save your eyes

  • It's the same as Libertarian logic .... they believe in freedom for themselves and themselves only without regard for anyone else, no matter the cost.

They just can't believe that when people start losing their freedoms, that they will start losing it themselves.

  • Amazing history too ..... Crosby and his band mates put the song together within days of the event and released it in two weeks and through a record label that gave them full control and freedom to do whatever they wanted.

In the 90s in an interview, Crosby explained that something like that wasn't possible anymore because record labels have a strangle hold on performers and would never allow this kind of music to be commercially produced and marketed. Performers can still make the music but it would never be allowed on a corporate label or corporate controlled air waves or even digitally controlled streaming services today.

  • I'd rather be arrested or charged by the police for this .... than in risking losing my eyesight

If government and security forces want to endanger you like this ... than all the more reason to wear eye protection.

  • Yes, it's Linux.

  • lol .... I never noticed .... just like the 12 year old who installed Limewire on the family computer

  • Tinted lenses are a good choice because then you can just claim that they are personal sunglasses ... as opposed to safety glasses you want to use at a protest event.

  • Paintballers and airsofters

Great point ... wear any paintball gear you might have

And if you are targeted for wearing anything ... what would you rather have? Be arrested for wearing gear - or lose your eyesight because you wore no gear.

  • Yes, it's Linux.

  • Just don't let the 12 year old install LimeWire onto that thing

  • The American people are the frogs in the pot of water

The water is getting pretty warm and its about to boil soon and everyone keeps hoping that the water won't get any hotter

  • Yes! ... the person who made this gif is a genius

  • Personally, I was leaning on #3

  • Oh Yeah

  • It's also the removal of responsibility

I can't remember where I read it but it came from the administrators of the Nuremberg Trials and their dealings with Nazi criminals they were interviewing and trying to prosecute.

Basically ... most people everywhere have a degree of empathy for the things that are happening around them and to other people. There are psychopaths that really don't care what they do to other people but they are not the norm.

Instead many people can more easily justify doing things to other people if they can remove their responsibility.

    • A leader, administrator or politician can remove their responsibility by saying that they asked for something to be done but they didn't do the thing because someone else carried out the order - so it is the underlings responsibility because they followed the order.
    • A follower or low level participant can remove their responsibility by saying that they were just following orders - they aren't responsible because they were told to do these things.

Both groups want to believe that they had no responsibility and so they aren't to blame.

It's always been like that and it's still happening now

  • I don't think so .... because anything he does is the opposite of whatever an actual doctor is supposed to do.

  • I've worked in construction and building for many years and from time to time I had to get safety training.

Basically, any small object that is moving fast enough is dangerous. It's not so bad if it hits your skin but it is absolutely dangerous if it flies anywhere on your head and face. You can lose eyes, teeth, hearing even have objects fly into your mouth and the soft parts of your throat and mouth. Remember that your face is basically an airbag to protect your skull - your brain doesn't care what happens to your face because if anything damages the face or eyes, it will save the brain - so you might survive a shot to the face but does it really matter if you're blind or maimed in the mouth, nose or ears. In war time, soldiers have been known to blow off the entire face, jaw, nose, eyes and all and still survive.

The world is insane .... we have OSHA standards that regulate what can or can't be done in a work zone to keep people safe from harm and even death

But when it comes to dealing with people in a public protest ... all that safety goes out the window as police are allowed to fire small objects at unsafe speeds into people's bodies and faces! Onto unsuspecting people with no training, knowledge or wherewithal to know that they should at least wear safety glasses.

  • Yeah, don't know why people jumped on you like that. This is a silly nonsense Star Trek board, not an official serious forum to discuss Star Trek accurately ... basically, everything here is a joke and not to be taken seriously.

If people disagreed with your comment, they could have just ignored it.

I posted the image as a joke without any real ill intention against Sulu or Takei .... I love George Takei and follow him on all his social feeds.

I only posted the image and text just as a joke to juxtapose the idea of a calm Captain sipping tea while the world falls apart.

  • NIB

You sent me down a black hole trying to figure out what NIB stands for .... in my search I came up with ...

    • New In Box
    • National Internet Backbone
    • Necrophilics In Black
    • Not In Box
    • Network In a Box
    • Naughty Indian Boy
    • Nerds In Band
    • Ninja Inzektor Beast
  • lol ... I used to do a lot of camping with my dad and brothers when we were kids. We're Indigenous so it wasn't just recreational camping, it was just a way of life.

The best time for food was the last day when we were packing up and getting ready to head home. Dad would open every spare can of food and put it all in one pot for one giant meal. Meatballs, hash, pork, beans, wieners, bologna ... when I think of it now, it's absolutely disgusting but as kids, we loved it ... together with white bread and butter, it was a gourmet meal in the wilderness.

  • I work in a bit of construction and renovations and I've collected all sorts of safety glasses over the years. I have them in my shop, garage, basement, truck and office. They're easy to find and buy, cheap (about $10-$20 CAD) and for the price, will actually save your eyes if you buy actual safety equipment.

Here are a couple of images of a pair I have sitting in my kitchen. If you find a reputable brand, there should be a readable notation on the band to indicate authenticity. If there are no markings, then it is probably a knockoff.

  • I know ... I think I've posted this gif about a dozen times this month .... it's beautiful.

  • I agree ... but I think law enforcement use the term 'non-lethal' as a bit of public relations and legal wording to make themselves look good.

To me ... both 'non-lethal' and 'less-lethal' mean that they are less likely to kill you ... but still have a good risk of killing you if they hit in the right place. But either terminology also means that if the projectile is small enough and fast enough ... it would be fast enough to destroy your eye and blind you.
