8BitDo announces its controllers now have Steam (SteamOS) compatibility
  • The back paddles aren’t mapped to anything by default and there’s nothing Steam can do to help there. There are also some vibration levels you can’t set elsewhere and having a hardware switch for different profiles is nice.

The back paddles also can only be mapped to other buttons that are on the controller so I need different profiles for different games. I usually map them to l3 and r3 but sometimes its nice to have them as b and y instead without having to mess with steam input.

  • I’ve been very happy with an 8bitdo ultimate using the 2.4 ghz dongle. Only complaint is I can’t modify any mappings on Linux and have to bust out an old windows laptop for it. Otherwise, it’s worked perfectly every time across a few Linux systems including a steam deck.

  • Y'all forgetting they were gathering period data and were arresting women who had 'abortion-like' procedures?
  • There’s an open source period tracker called drip that doesn’t collect your data. Everything is kept local. My wife used it for a while and learned some things about her cycle. It was also cool being able to know almost exactly when she’d be on her period 2 months ahead of time.

  • Inflation accelerates in Japan after rice prices double
  • Japanese rice prices are a weird combination of inflation, panic buying, inefficient farming, and a bureaucracy managing it all that actively wants rice to be more expensive. This video has a really good explanation of it.

  • We just had a political assassination and still...
  • It’s either that or many dems are ok with sitting back and acting helpless while they take their lobbying bribes and invest in the markets they regulate. Why change a system that personally benefits them so much?

  • 99.999% accurate would be pretty useful. Theres plenty of misinformation without AI. Nothing and nobody will be perfect.

Trouble is they range from 0-95% accurate depending on the topic and given context while being very confident when they’re wrong.
