What's something that you were surprised to find out a lot of people hate?
  • The Last Jedi.

I left the theater on opening night thrilled with what I saw. I couldn't wait to go online and read all the positive reactions and theories for the next one... Whelp.

  • Which Mastodon client do you prefer on Android and why?
  • Megalodon. It's a fork of the official app with added features.

  • You don't hate JIRA, you hate your manager - Derek Jarvis' Blog
  • You absolutely nailed it. I have no issues with what my manager asks me to use Jira for. I do have issues with the extremely convoluted UI and nearly every interaction triggering loading screens. Most of my time in Jira is spent fighting their terrible user interface and waiting for the damn thing to load.

  • Priorities!
  • I've donated to Lemmy, Beehaw, and Mastodon and came here because Reddit killed Sync. Lemmy is full of gatekeepers and it's bringing the platform down. Half the posts are whining about reddit and the other half are whining because someone doesn't adhere to the perfect open source ethos and shun anything not completely free. It's getting tiring. No wonder Lemmy's active user count is decreasing.

  • Finally migrated back to Firefox today after a multi year user of Chrome.
  • I haven't used them in a few years and found them a lot worse than Chrome at the time. I'll have to give them a try at work this week so I can hopefully fully switch over.

  • Finally migrated back to Firefox today after a multi year user of Chrome.
  • How are the developer tools lately? That's the only thing keeping me on Chrome at work. Otherwise, I'm using Firefox on my phone and personal computer.

  • Which professionals is the Mac Pro for? We couldn’t find them
  • What? I'm a software engineer (a so-called "professional") at a major corporation and we get the choice between Windows and Mac. Every single person I know in the company has chosen Mac.

  • Lordstown Motors files for bankruptcy, sues Foxconn
  • "The bankruptcy of Lordstown signals that the days of successful EV startups is in the rear-view mirror," said Thomas Hayes, chairman at hedge fund Great Hill Capital. "Moving forward it will be Tesla and the traditional incumbents ... that will duke it out for market share."

    Meanwhile at Rivian: 👋

  • Reddit CEO Steve Huffman: Reddit “was never designed to support third-party apps”
  • Alternate headline: Reddit CEO Steve Huffman attempts to gaslight the entire world.

  • 3D Origami Vaporeon, Flareon and Jolteon
  • Woah! I thought there were crochet at first glance. This is so cool!

  • [/c/linuxmasterrace@feddit.de](/c/linuxmasterrace@feddit.de)
  • I access the Fediverse with Arch, btw.

  • Recommendations for games where the sound takes it to the next level?
  • Any Dice game, really. The Battlefield games have always had incredible sound design.

Disclaimer: I haven't played the latest one.

  • Let's Keep Beehaw Going
  • I donated the other day and I'm glad to see the user base here so willing to support the project!

If we want these places to succeed, we need to be willing to pay for them. It's the only way to keep things running ad and data collection free.

I would have been happy paying Reddit to keep 3rd party app access... But they clearly think my data is worth more than a direct monthly fee. So I'll give them neither and hang out here instead.

  • Megathread for Reddit Blackouts and News - Day 2
  • That's an absolutely tone deaf response from spez.

    Tone deafness is spez's speciality.

  • What's Lemmy reading?
  • Jade City by Fonda Lee. I'm really digging the world and characters so far.

  • Has anyone tried squabbles.io yet? It might be my favorite of the Reddit alternatives so far!
  • Fool me once. Shame on Digg. Fool me twice. Shame on Reddit.

  • Star Wars Outlaws: Official Gameplay Walkthrough | Ubisoft Forward
  • This looks surprisingly good. I've been pretty burnt out on the Ubisoft open world formula so hopefully this does something new. I'm not gonna get too hyped, but I'm hoping the reviews end up being positive so I can pick this up a bit after launch.

  • Now that Halo is dead, which game deserves the title of "Halo killer"?
  • Halo 5 & Halo Infinite. Turns out, Halo was the Halo killer all along.
