Palworld is Steam Deck Playable and runs on Desktop Linux with Proton (first big hit of 2024)
  • You nailed it. To the other commenters, my point is not that there wont be people playing it at all in a month. More that in a short amount of time the perceived "greatness" of this game will no longer be the consensus. Games that get this kind of hype excel on that hype alone, most times it's fueled by streamers who are filling a gap while they wait for a more anticipated game to launch. Once players get a couple weeks in the honeymoon phase subsides and we are left with another early access title that was never really that great in the first place. It has been out 2 days. I'll be happy to come back and say I was wrong. Time will tell. I'll go back the patientgamers now.

  • Stuck behind nat, any way to get wireguard working?
  • At best it will add whatever the extra hop is and any network congestion. My VPS host is 2200km away. I should find a closer one.... but it adds 160ms with some spikes in the 200-300 range. This is round trip 4400km roughly All things considered not too bad. My VPS is a 1vCPU, 1GB ram, 1Gbit unmetered, only as wireguard server. Hope that helps.

  • Stuck behind nat, any way to get wireguard working?
  • I'm in the same boat so I setup a $2.50/mo VPS and that's my gateway. It took a little bit to get the nftables on vps to work right. I'd recomemned tailscale or similar if you want easy, though I've not ever used them myself.

  • Raspberry Pi - Arch Linux or Raspberry Pi OS
  • I've used raspberry pi os and shortly arch arm, both work ok. I remeber having an issue with some python packages on arch arm, but thats it. Personally I chose Debian testing for my headless pi4 and have been happy. It's running Syncthing, Mariadb, a few python scripts to pull data from pi pico-w. FTP server for IP cameras recording, Pydio, Pihole, and Gitea.

  • Discussing the Batman Arkham series
  • I bought 3 of them last year, I think. So far only completed Asylum, it was really good. Although I remember several times disliking the return to areas and having to traverse said area through a bunch of "upgrade" mobs. I'm looking forward to the other two, but it will probably be another couple years until I get to them.

  • self service tipping 😊
  • I feel like this is just a lazy one system design for all. Its like subway's question when paying with credit card. I'm not tipping them to make a sandwich, just charge more for the sandwich.

Drives automatically get a "warning" flag if powered on for 3 years.

“Clearly predatory”: Western Digital sparks panic, anger for age-shaming HDDs

Im not sure I see this a big deal. I guess for people that don't know to check drive health, it may be alarming to have a warning staring you down.

which OS do you like the most?
  • Arch for my main, Debian for my servers and family. I bounced around for a while over the years. At some point in the past I decided I didn't want to use derivatives and these two fit my needs prefectly.

  • In preparation for the Reddit June 12-14 Black-out
  • +1 Cloud Fanatic. They were Server Cheap until a few months ago, but I guess that name turned people off. I don't have any heavy usage so I cant really speak to that aspect, but I've never been over billed or unable to connect in 3 years.
