I believe that also works in Firefox now
I'm into privacy, but I really enjoy my pixel as it is too. The main concern is my Dexcom continuous blood glucose monitor. It gives annoying warnings about not being tested with the current os version every time I update. I don't even use betas.
That is tempting, especially if I knew I wouldn't lose some picky software. I think I'm in a reasonable state of balance between Google and privacy at the moment.
If you value security, you'll want to turn on the new Advanced Protection mode in Android 16. Here's what it does and how to enable it.

I want some of these features without blocking installs from F-Droid
It is my default launcher too but it requires a different mindset if you're used to arranging icons. You spend more time choosing wallpaper instead of arranging things. Just, tag your apps and search for them. It's much better than it sounds. And any widgets you want just scroll up from the bottom.
I already tried F5 for volume up instead of the XF86VolumeUp or whatever it already had there. I'll have to check out wev. Is that a terminal command or an app from the Apps menu?
I'll look when I'm back home.
What's the shortcut for function keys?
I use Firefox with Phoenix on the desktop so the standard profile is just a little less strict than librewolf and the hardened profile is a little more strict. https://github.com/celenityy/Phoenix
I was using (and really liked) Librewolf until I heard that they were having trouble keeping up with Firefox updates. Now I'm using the Phonenix configurations for Firefox and keeping the FF updates separate from the privacy configuration settings. Avoiding forks lets you get the best of both worlds.

I'm on mastodon.social and a search for .threads.net accounts shows many pages. I follow some that I couldn't find on mastodon otherwise.
Firefox. Hardened via Phoenix https://github.com/neuroradiology/Phoenix-for-Firefox?tab=readme-ov-file
Thank you for the reply. What is the key sym for a function key? I have tried F5 for example but that wasn't right.
I've been on mastodon for 8 years and it's ok but it can't catch the masses. It has been paralyzed from advancing by a vocal minority.
It shouldn't take 6 years to get search and quote posts. They also need optional algorithmic feeds.
Bot?
No mention of phoenix here? I moved from Librewolf over concerns it wasn't keeping up and this project does much like the arkenfox stuff does by using the current firefox and just changing some settiings and policies so you are never behind the latest version of firefox. Check out their comparisons: https://codeberg.org/celenity/Phoenix/wiki/Comparison#safe-browsing
Thanks for the reply, but I'm not getting it. Are you saying that the problem is an "issue?" Is there still a bug or am I missing something?
And here is the computer info.

All I want is to take my F5 key and assign it to the media key for volume down. BIOS will not do this. Gnome lets me do it.
When I try to hit F5 the key does nothing in the input field.
That sounds like what I was looking for. Thanks. I finally figured out last night that I could remove that particular account from tusky and the target disappeared. Unfortunately, it changes back as soon as I add back that account! That's the third account on tusky and it only grabs that one.
I share screenshots with the wife every day but somehow Tusky has grabbed the share sheet target, and always wants me to share to a mastodon account I rarely use and I can't seem to replace it with my usual Signal target for my wife. Ideas?
Damn, I think I missed this. Anyway, I'm on a System 76 laptop and it does not have the ability to switch the keys in the BIOS. Before, I was doing it with Gnome but I still can't get it done on Cosmic.
Same thing happened to me
use another fork if you want, but you don't have to advertise it. Let Mozilla do what it must to survive and we can use the forks or change the privacy options. I like this myself: https://github.com/celenityy/Phoenix
In Gnome, I was able to make my media keys work without hitting fn by reassigning them. I honestly don't even remember how I did it.
Is there a way to do this in Cosmic yet?
I know it's early yet, but right now my laptop screen stays awake all day while I listen to streaming music. Is there no way to return to the login screen and blank that screen after a certain period of time?
It seems like Firefox has a rather serious problem with telemetry on Android devices. It has to do with the company's 'Glean' system.

Does fennec get around this?
Laura Chambers will step in as interim CEO to run operations until a permanent replacement is found.

Same question: Can you follow Lemmy communities from PieFed?
Until recently, when I took a screenshot with my #pixel it showed a direct share target which was usually the most recent person I shared to. Now, it's got no one. How do I fix that?
