Costco gets a nasty Christmas present and ends the year terribly (workers victory)
  • Costco at least tries to appear to be the pinnacle of "just" Capitalism, with generous benefits and wages in comparison to the market and intentionally low margins for profit, reinvesting everything else.

This response is 100% expected, though never trust a corpo to be willingly benign. Corpos will always do what's best for those with the power to influence their direction.

  • Starfield is now mostly negative in recent reviews
  • One of the most unjustified review bombings in recent years, IMO. The game is very much a standard Bethesda game, and is fine. Mods and DLCs are what people buy Bethesda games for, anyways.

Don't get me wrong, Bethesda themselves are very mediocre game devs, but their specific style of game lends itself well to modding.

Starfield is just as mediocre as Skyrim and Fallout 4, everyone who made Morrowind great is gone, Bethesda games ride on the success of their modding communities.

  • To build a better world, stop chasing economic growth
  • The best product should not be what's most popular in Capitalism, what's profitable to produce is what's most profitable. With tons of competition, you just have competing levels of automation, corner cutting, and exploitation.

Competition and markets in general are the cause of enshittification.

  • But we're the bad guys?
  • Christo-fascists openly revealing that they are genuinely terrible people held together with duct tape and faith in a genocidal God will never cease to be both hilarious and terrifying.

  • "Both parties are the same!"
  • Yes, which is why you have to combine that with grassroots movements. Just voting third party or for Trump gets fascists elected, and voting is therefore just loss prevention. To move to the left and improve things, Unionization, protesting, and organizing from the bottom-up is necessary.

  • "Both parties are the same!"
  • Neither was I. An activist Socialist can't do much except in local and state levels, at a national level it takes a mass worker party for electoralism to have any real bite.

That's why I call national elections loss prevention, because you can either vote to maintain the status quo, or let marginalized groups be attacked and vilified as fascists gain power.

  • "Both parties are the same!"
  • Even there, though, even as a president, you can't meaningfully move much without the support of the party. The difference for fascists is that the Republican party legitimately has a ton of actual fascists, so fascist presidents are extremely dangerous. If a Socialist led the DNC, it would be spoiled and wouldn't have much of a chance to move left.

  • Full agreement, way ahead of you. Instead of having a robust, publicly funded infrastructure-based necessity (internet service), it gets chopped up and sold piece-by-piece with price-gouging and local monopolies like warlords.

  • What are your favorite mod lists?

I'm a big fan of the usual big hitters like Viva New Vegas, but are there any lesser-known mod lists you love? Right now I'm enjoying The Sands, on Wabbajack. Never would've tried Vicious Wastes, otherwise!

What is your favorite character you've roleplayed?

Like the title! Do you have any favorite characters that you've made, across the entire series? Could be any Fallout game.

One of my favorites is a techno-religious Brotherhood Scribe, that takes massive inspiration from the Adeptus Mechanicus. Ultimately sided with Elijah at endgame.
