Interesting, I actually just adjust the volume knob on my desktop speakers so I didn't think of this when I wrote the meme.

Try to pivot to contract/consulting IT work, it's more of a PITA because you have to take care of things like health insurance on your own, but it might be a tad easier to pick up work that way since companies are always more willing to drop a grand or 2 here and there over hiring someone that needs commitment, benefits, support, training etc.

Well at least it's "just" software issues, software can always be fixed, but hardware issues are usually only fixable by needing to buy a new version lol

Unfortunately, the "block" isn't really a block on Lemmy, it's barely a mute and that goes for user and instance blocks. Because dessalines refuses to implement a proper system (unsurprisingly). It's been 4 years since "blocks" rolled out

In any case it still allows their toxicity and misinformation to spread, trolling new users who come here unaware of the need to block and such

Really, the best answer is to call for wide defederation like the rest of the Tankie Triad is treated

Sounds like CF is just offering it as a service to their customers (e.g. platform/website operators). CF will handle detection and billing, but the money will mostly be going to the website (minus fees, I'm sure they're not doing it for free)

So if it's a content creator running their own website through CF then that money would definitely be going towards them. It gets muddier when it's a platform like say Patreon or big social media.

Yea, the Threadiverse refers to all of the federated "Reddit-like" link aggregation social media, so it includes Lemmy, Mbin, PieFed and Sublinks (if it ever comes out)
