After the blackout...
  • Already deleted all my reddit accounts and uninstalled Joey (TPA). I'll be honest and say that I won't completely stop going to reddit, but it will be pretty rare and just as a spectator. I won't be participating anymore. There's just too much information there right now and there are some subs i follow that probably won't migrate here.

  • Reddit CEO: We're Sticking With API Changes, Despite Subreddits Going Dark
  • We should move. Even if we did a longer blackout, the admins can just replace the mods of the bigger subs and ignore the smaller ones. Even if the blackout is effective, they will pull something like this again.

I've lost trust in them. I'm not going back except maybe for information if I really need to.

  • Guess we will need to stay away from Edge
  • Thanks! I'm not sure I'll be using many of Vivaldi's features but it's nice to know they're a good option. I'll stick with Brave for now. Too many features scare me.

  • Lemmy and Mastodon feel like the real web3.
  • I saw that. That's honestly stupid, imo. I mean, they can still track you and force feed you ads. Sure you can have an adblocker but that's the same for mobile.

Idk why they'd do that, tbh.

  • I Hope Rexxitors Tone Down the Low-Hanging Comment Chains on Lemmy.
  • Idk. I enjoyed it when it's done well. I subbed to subs like r/redditsings because of it.

  • Redditors, how do you like Lemmy?
  • Oof.. then it might not be the browser. Maybe an extension?

  • what's the asshole mitigation plan?
  • I'm really interested in running my personal instance. Can you point me to a tutorial on how to go about that?

  • Lemmy and Mastodon feel like the real web3.
  • This is why I'm hoping people stay even after the blackout. Lemmy has potential but a big part of it is the community. I already like it here and I've seen it grow despite being here for only a week. It's honestly amazing to watch.

  • I'm hearing Lemmy itself, the .ml instance and some others are ran by Tankies that censor criticism of russia and china. What are your thoughts on this?
  • I mean, reddit's CEO used to mod that sub. Reddit and redditors were still fine after it blew up. Why are there different standards? The sub may have been banned already, but I doubt spez has changed much. Reddit admins have gotten away with a lot like editing comments, refusing to ban certain subs until there was media coverage, etc. Personally, I haven't encountered any censorship due to political affiliations (yet). And if it happes, I'll change instances.

They don't control the fediverse just as much as they can't control which instance I join/create.

  • Redditors, how do you like Lemmy?
  • Have you tried a chromium browser? I haven't tried browsing lemmy on FF yet, but I never had that issue on chromium (Brave).

  • What subreddits WON’T you miss? What content are you glad to see the end of?
  • Yes. Definitely. I don't mind the sub but don't surprise with that crap on r/all.

  • So, what do you think about Lemmy/kbin so far?
  • Not yet, at least. I've seen a few posts about it and I agree it's an important feature. I hope the devs are seriously considering to add it.

  • So, what do you think about Lemmy/kbin so far?
  • Honestly, Jerboa in alpha is already better than the official reddit app for me. It's no TPA reddit app, but the number of contributors (in github) has risen by a lot so I'm expecting/hoping development will pick up and it'll get better fast.

I appreciate the community the most in here. They've been very welcoming and minimal, if any, toxicity.

  • Guess we will need to stay away from Edge
  • Like someone has said, we're in a privacy-oriented sub so it's natural (expected even) to expect the hate. Edge/MS really is bad in terms of privacy. So I get the hate.

With that said, privacy concerns aside, I have to agree that its reputation is worse than it really is. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it, but my standard was IE so it wasn't really saying much lol. It's getting bad with unnecessary features, though.

As for being better than FF... well, of course in terms of privacy FF is still better imho. However, I rely on chromium-based browsers for work. Some internal sites I use for work simply don't play well with FF. I do have Brave, but I sometimes use Edge as well.

Is there a good chromium browser anyone can recommend? Is Brave the best privacy-wise? Vivaldi?

  • Ready for the new upcoming Transformers movie
  • I'm hyped. I like the direction they went with visually (G1 fan here lol).

  • Jerboa super laggy suddenly (0.0.33)
  • I tried reinstalling the update and it became laggy for me. I just force stopped it then cleared cache. It's working smooth now.

  • Whats a game that everybody seems to love that you cant stand for one reason or another?
  • That's... pretty accurate, ngl. Lol. I've played POE, GD, LE, D2R and that's 0retty much how it is. The campaign is basically a huge tutorial.

Still, it's fun for me to try new builds. And the feeling when you get a good legendary/unique that's perfect for you character is pretty nice. But yes, it can get tiring. I'm taking a break from arpg's rn.

  • I won't be able to check this out. Would it be too much to ask someone to share if there's any updates/info about Ghost Recon games? Thank you!
