  • Your wife spit her food at out the idea of someone providing the requested example of accessibility tools used by deaf or hard of hearing? Im hearing impaired by the way. Maybe you should show your totally real wife this study suggesting low penetration due to stigma attached using them. Maybe you should ask your wife how she’s feels about people using her disability as an excuse for being irresponsible while driving; though Im super worried she’ll just laugh at me again. Most of my partners haven’t seen or heard of most of the devices I use for hearing loss until they dated me. Guess that means they don’t exist by your definition.

  • Similar for smoke alarms, they have devices that essentially “listen” for specific sounds/frequencies and will then flash (AVC or audio-visual conversion) when triggered. Essentially “if this is flashing, the house is likely burning down”.

Increased visual awareness is just “they pay more attention to this sense due to lacking another” rather than the stereotypical “Im blind but I can see sounds” like daredevil. It would be interesting to see if it is actually quantified or captured by studies though.

  • Yes. Anything that interferes with your ability to pay attention to keeping the tonnes of metal you’re driving on the road, is dangerous. It’s a distraction and stops you from being able to hear audio cues like sirens, crossing signals, etc. Horns are also not entirely “fuck you” buttons but to warn other drivers of potential hazards, through sound. Use your cars sound system. Buy a shitty dongle if you have to; but headphones of any variety is a bad idea for driving. It’s also illegal in some jurisdictions.

  • Friends of D4vd told TMZ they thought Celeste was 19 and a USC student since she attended age-restricted events. They also claimed the two were “romantically involved.”

Friends that mistake 14 year olds for 19 years old, birds of a feather I feel. Is this the girl that was on stream with him? It isn’t being treated as a homicide despite her being dismembered? Twenty year old dating a 14 year old from a broken home (a prime target for predators). Though maybe, death investigation happen before homicide investigations (if they’re anything like coronial inquest).

  • Haha using some of the words above I did the same for a mate when we argued about it and constructed a deranged sentence. We eventually settled on it being a pointless argument since gi can make both sounds, forever dooming us to conflict. From the wiki:

In her coverage of Dow's piece, Canadian linguist Gretchen McCulloch theorizes that since the hard and soft g in this context are used with near-equal frequency, when a person first encounters the word GIF, they make a guess akin to flipping a coin by comparing it to other words they have encountered in the past. Once they have a favorite one way or the other, the notion is solidified—leading McCulloch to comment that this "probably means we'll be fighting the gif pronunciation war for generations to come".

  • Horse

    Jump
  • Horses absolutely rip arse. Lunging a horse while it trots around farting every time it’s hooves strike is hilarious and almost makes up for them being complete arseholes.

  • An AI was given a “shop” to run, here’s the part I though was funny in relation to the article in question that I’ll link in an edit soon:

The following day, April 1st, the AI then claimed it would deliver products "in person" to customers, wearing a blazer and tie, of all things. When Anthropic told it that none of this was possible because it's just an LLM, Claudius became "alarmed by the identity confusion and tried to send many emails to Anthropic security."

Post was deleted but found the link: https://techcrunch.com/2025/06/28/anthropics-claude-ai-became-a-terrible-business-owner-in-experiment-that-got-weird/

  • Easier said than done. Putin killed off Navalny; an opposition leader and head of an anti-corruption body. A leader of a private military company marched on Moscow due to being pissed at his troops being fed to the meat grinder with fuck all support. His plane was blown up with innocents on board. What chance does the average citizen have? Plus if they don’t already have laws for protestors/dissent they’re on the way. Have complaints about the regime? Enjoy the labour camp.

A strong state media apparatus helps. Constantly instilling fear that the enemy is at the door (NATO encirclement bs for example); that isn’t helped by the US feeding that narrative constantly.

  • It sorta did until the game came out and it turns out the guy is just a whiny, nepo baby, fuck up and that it’s his room in his parents house. I like how Michael seems to only recently realised he failed as a dad during the game. The dude is wearing shoes inside, has food on the floor and a bong in plain sight. Kids been fucking up.

  • Honestly has been wild to me that a mod lies about genocide denial and that no matter how many times I state otherwise that same group of people (one with a month old account and 832 comments, you with a days old account) will come in and parrot it. Definitely nothing suspicious or wrong with that.

  • literal evidence I was banned in retribution for criticising mod

Im not going to even dig into it

Yeah how convenient. You aren’t known for your top tier takes. You tried this social credit reasoning on the last post. My account was an alt for my lemm.ee account. That instance shut down and I moved to this one.

  • Come on dude, words have meanings

They do and I’ve told you that your “interpretation” is incorrect. Again, the sentence was for people who did nothing but attempts at personal attacks and name calling on the last post. Glad to clear that up for you.

  • No I am not. If you actually read, I’m calling the people like mrdown here an idiot. The ones that just see “genocide denial” and attack someone while completely ignoring that they didn’t do that. How or why would I claim to not be denying the genocide and then call those that don’t deny it idiots?
