Battle of the 90's copycat movies. Deep Impact vs Armageddon. Which one did you enjoy more?
  • These movies are nothing alike. Armageddon is a dumb, fun action movie while Deep Impact is a character drama.

Deep Impact is a much stronger script, but Hollywood originally advertised it as an "apocalypse" movie like Armageddon, and most audiences have had trouble looking past that ever since.

  • Let's name our evil character Darth Evilus or something
  • We could have had Darth Icky, if only more people could recognize George's genius

  • Helldivers 2 gets its first rebalance patch
  • Nope, not a huge deal at all. Still don't feel any recoil when using the breaker.

  • Netflix is going to take away its cheapest ad-free plan
  • Sounds like you got hacked and someone reactivated your subscription

  • Teen deepfake victim pushes for federal law targeting AI-generated explicit content
  • Creating fake child porn of real people using things like Photoshop is already illegal in the US, I don't see why new laws are required?

  • Seasoned RPG devs from Obsidian and Bioware blame the temporary death of the isometric CRPG on 'vibes-based forecasting' from retailers
  • Dragon Age: Origins had the perfect camera that let you look around like an action game and then switch to the tactical camera. It's astounding that modern rpgs cannot match how good the camera was in a game from 2009.

  • Costco gets a nasty Christmas present and ends the year terribly (workers victory)
  • It might seem like a good statement on the surface, but the whole idea of "We don't think our workers need a union because we're already willing to listen" is just a blatant lie. A company that truly wants it's labor to feel heard would want an employee union so that they can communicate and negotiate in an honest, straight forward manner. Telling employees that they shouldn't need a union is a manipulation tactic.

  • In a U.S. First, a Commercial Plant Starts Pulling Carbon From the Air
  • To earn revenue, the company is selling carbon removal credits to companies paying a premium to offset their own emissions. Microsoft has already signed a deal with Heirloom to remove 315,000 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

And this is why direct air capture is a farce right now - any progress they make is literally counter acted by large corporations who will increase their carbon output because they have a contract with a company like this.

Carbon air capture technology paired with 100% clean energy can save the world from a lot of hardship in the near future, but not like this.

  • Maybe this isn't proper shopping but $18.50 for four veggie burgers, buns, and danish seems like a lot
  • You did not understand my comment very well. Beans and rice are great staple foods, I love them. A well rounded diet involves more than just beans and rice.

  • Maybe this isn't proper shopping but $18.50 for four veggie burgers, buns, and danish seems like a lot
  • It's so sad how many posters would rather blame OP for spending an extra dollar on better bread and veggie patties rather than actually acknowledge the blatant price gouging on food. The idea that everyone should only be buying the cheapest ingredients is just stupid. No one is living a fulfilling life eating nothing but cheap beans and rice everyday, and food prices have been ridiculous for a while now.

  • gf wants total silence
  • These are the small moments that define a relationship. Your gf wants to have a quiet morning browsing her phone and you want to have a conversation. It is up to you if that is ok or not - your relationship should make you happy. You can decide that you are happy to give her a quiet morning, or you can decide that it makes you feel too weird and find a new relationship with someone that you are more compatible with. Every relationship involves compromise but only you can decide what compromise is right for you.

  • Bethesda finally put proper ladders in a game, so of course players have dedicated themselves to designing Starfield ships without any
  • Open your inventory and you can push a button to switch to the ship. It works anywhere on the ship. If you aren't sure which button opens the ship's cargo (I have it set to Q but I think that's a custom keybinding) it will say at the bottom of the inventory screen which button to press to open the cargo hold.

You can also access the ship's cargo when interacting with merchants and sell things directly from the ship.

  • FDA says common over the counter decongestant phenylephrine does not work in oral form
  • Guaifenisin aka Mucinex is an FDA approved drug. Maybe you should look it up since you clearly don't know anything about it? Or just take the word of a stranger on the Internet who says they went to pharmacy school eight years ago

  • FDA says common over the counter decongestant phenylephrine does not work in oral form
  • It thins out mucus. The fact that it works very well for me is absolutely proof that it works. I started taking it on recommendation from my doctor. Please explain to me how this is at all analagous to people taking horse ivermectin after doctors denied giving them a prescription?

Edit to add: guaifenisin is the main ingredient in Mucinex, to those who aren't familiar

  • FDA says common over the counter decongestant phenylephrine does not work in oral form
  • Guaifenisin is definitely not a garbage drug, it's very effective for me in ways that prove it works.

  • Google kills two-year “Pixel Pass” subscription after just 22 months
  • Thanks for pointing out that typo, I fixed the credit amount

  • New research showed men who consumed less than 40% of their total energy from carbohydrates experienced significantly higher risks of all-cause and cancer-related mortality
  • Low carb diets do not neglect vegetables, if you're eating a proper low carb diet then about half of your food volume should be coming from things like broccoli, cauliflower, and spinach. https://www.thekitchn.com/10-vegetables-that-are-lower-in-carbs-than-you-think-253337

Low carb diets still eat about 50-75 grams of carbs a day, and that's a lot of broccoli.

  • Google kills two-year “Pixel Pass” subscription after just 22 months
  • Lots of misunderstanding in these comments. Google Fi service is not going anywhere, Google is not cancelling any services. The Pixel Pass is basically just a bundle of optional services that can be added to your Fi account for a very slight discount. You do not get a free phone, you get interest free financing on your phone. Because they are cancelling the Pixel Pass Google has given me $100 credit towards my next phone, which is a better deal than the Pixel Pass itself.

Like many people I'm not happy with a lot of things Google has been doing lately, but the Pixel Pass being cancelled is not important.
