I feel like I'm spending less time on social media after switching to Lemmy
  • And that’s why I’m never going back. I absolutely love it here. I scroll my feed for a few minutes here and there, drop a comment or two, and I’m done. No feeling of missing something cool. I’ve probably seen it and I’m good.

  • Why do people post so much crap on linkedin?
  • Definitely. I said this in another reply as well, but I don’t respond unless they say something very specific about my background. I know AI can do that but that seems the best way to go for now.

  • Ocasio-Cortez endorses Biden's reelection campaign, sending a strong signal of Democratic unity
  • For real. Even as a white guy, I’m tired of this shit as well. Wish we could get someone younger and more progressive on the ballot. It’s time to get those old ducks out of office. They have no grasp on how shit really works these days.

  • I think the average person just simply doesn't care about their privacy.
  • It is. They know everything about you. Even every store you have shopped at knows a lot about you. It really doesn’t take much interaction for a company to get a lot of info. It’s relatively easy to get an email and from there, if they wanted, they can get the rest of your profile from a 3rd party who has your data all matched up already. They can also build your profile pretty easily themselves as well.

  • Is it just me or did anyone else became a more avid poster since joining lemmy?
  • I've posted more but I'm still mostly a lurker. I have enjoyed reading the actual discussion here. The comments at reddit got to be so formulaic and the same across posts, it's refreshing to see actual thought and effort go into making comments.

  • GOG is doing much better than in 2022
  • For all you Linux folks complaining about why GOG isn’t on there:

For desktop and laptop computers, Microsoft's Windows is the most used at 69%, followed by Apple's macOS at 17%, and Google's ChromeOS at 3.2% (in the US up to 8.0%), and "desktop Linux" at 2.9%. In addition, 5% is attributed to "unknown" operating systems - which are likely forms of BSD or obscure varieties of Linux.

Maybe a small company can’t devote the resources for 5% of the market share when they have 86% covered.

NSFW shows in feed even though setting is disabled

Randomly my feed will fill with new posts even though it's set to "Hot". Some of those posts will include NSFW content. I guess this could be two issues that are occurring.

    1. User gets a feed dump of new posts even though it's set to "Hot"
    2. NSFW content shows in feed even though setting is disbaled
