"you are less valuable than the data you produce"

For how often I see articles talking about the dangers of tech, I'm surprised at the lack of mention for watch_dogs. Sure, its just a silly little Ubisoft game series, but this game series predicted so much of today's world. The 2nd game is basically propoganda against corporations hoarding so much data, exploring how each of them exploit the world they inhabit. If you haven't played the game, I highly recommend checking it out just for the intro alone. It might not be real world events or actual statistics, but it sure broke down some of the major problems in the industry into something my 13 year old brain could comprehend when I first played the game.

US couple blocked from suing Uber after crash say daughter agreed to Uber Eats terms
  • Ok I think this should finally bring to light how TOS should not be enforceable contracts. As

1- its common knowledge that the average person does not read TOS. Therefore, it should be unreasonable to expect the average consumer to have completely understood what they have agreed to, without any legal representation to clarify the contract

2 - TOS are written like legal jargin straight from the legal department. Unfortunately, the client base is either 10 year olds lying about their age, 80 year olds who barely understand what a TOS is, and the average consumer who was never presented with a contract, just a simple "Accept or Decline"

3 - If TOS is meant to be as enforceable as it is, then we need a new set of data laws / seperate justice system to actually regulate those TOS. From what I understand, real life laws still apply to contracts where both parties consented. Aka, even if you agreed to kill someone who wanted to die, murder is illegal.

I hope we can bring some real change instead of letting this go to the side too. I was hoping the Disney thing would be bigger than it was, but then again who's taking Disney to court and surviving? It's sad to think they can get away with this, and its sadder to know we're less valuable than the data we produce.

  • Israel Deliberately Blocked Humanitarian Aid to Gaza, Two Government Bodies Concluded. Antony Blinken Disagreed.
  • Then why the fuck do we not revolutionize and impose a 3rd party? I swear, I have to go down to DC myself to make people realize WE NEED TO GO OUT AND ACT!!! If NO ONE is happy with either party, we should be able to decline either candidate until we can all agree we found a compitent one. God, does anyone know of any revolutionary groups? I know the founding fathers didn't just declare independency and establish governmemt. They actually met up and planned how to knock these rich assholes off their thrones.

  • Kamala Harris was asked her toughest questions on Gaza yet
  • Call me insensitive, but shouldn't we be more worried about the terrorists on our home soil before fighting foreign lands. As in, every idiot who thought Jan 6 was a good idea. Because I can already picture the unhappy voters reaction whether Dems or MAGA wins.

2 have been fired at Trump, and they're investigating for Kamala.

And the worst part is: I STILL don't know who the bad guy is. Israel? Palestine? How should I know, I can barely process the legislation and corruption that was alllowed to pass on our home soil.

Anyway I hope to become more informed on this issue now, seeing as our leader HAS to know a solution. Even though one candidate shouldn't even be able to walk freely. And I hope everyone else does as well

  • shitty little snowflake has to be special, can't just act normal like everyone else
  • I stopped doing the pledge when I realized I don't want to pledge my allegiance to a broken system. I'd happily start doing it again once I see actual beneficial change to our country, not more politics to fight/break apart over.

  • A nearly comical reminder that corporations aren't your friend.
  • If it really boils down to this, how can one fight back? I don't wanna sit here and see these sad articles blow by, what can I do to tell Disney to fuck off. I did not sign up for this, I wanted to watch funny cartoons and superheroes like a normal person, and this is my reward? If suing them is futile, is storming their office and yelling at their corporate head about this any better? I'm pissed, and I can't sit here and wait for other legal heads to shut this stupid clause down.

  • Wii Games?
  • I was trying to play games directly off an SD card, but I can't seem to find the right files. I keep hearing the actual console needs .wbfs files, but I'm not entirely sure on .iso.

I'll try torrentleech but I'm pretty new to pirating in general (I just keep seeing its easy to homebrew a wii.) I found some files on archive.org but can't get them to transfer onto the SD card.

  • Wii Games?

So I recently bought an old wii, specifically for the purpose of homebrewing. I'm able to understand so far as to what needs downloaded on the Wii and how to backup, but I can't find any sites with games. I noticed Vimms Lair wasn't an option anymore, and other sites I look through use ROMs for emulators. (Unless, those do work on the console). I think you need .wbfs files, and I'd really appreciate if I was pointed in the right direction

    Just a reminder
  • Huh. Its like I wanted a revolution in America, not a world war. Although that sounds good, we should all stand up to our oppressors and die fighting for what we care for. I'd rather die revolutionizing than dying for any current global leader

  • Just a reminder
  • Guys, when is the revolution? I wanna burn down every government building and start from scratch. I don't think Americans will be happy whether Biden or Trump is voted in, so we might as well fight both sides and uprise a new one

  • I love free Trump Felon stickers!
  • I wonder if his prison sentence will end similar to Epstein, or it has a Trump twist. I imagine a scenerio where a guard "accidentally" drops the key infront of his cell, the cameras are off, and every guard is distracted, but he still manages to fuck up and get lost inside the prison. Resulting in a comical yet massive prison escape, as he attempts to swoon the prisoners with freedom, in exchange for their loyal support, which is basically finding the exit.

  • Average U.S. vehicle age hits record 12.6 years as high prices force people to keep them longer
  • I watched a video that basically points this out. People have already figured out how to make the most optimum vehicle about 10 years ago, hell probably before, but because we live in a capitalistic society, manufacturers have to keep "innovating" and raising prices and adding useless features that create more problems than convenience. Touchsreens in cars are a perfect example: 1 - At first they were used to display radio and connect to gps, but are now overglorofied phones that have basic car features buried behind menus and laggy screens 2 - Distracted driving was already a problem with texting and driving. So lets put a giant screen on the dash where you can watch Netflix (while I doubt you can while driving, the fact I still gotta look at a screen to turn my wipers on in a flash of rain is a major flaw) 3 - Its a new source of revanue, you'd be stupid NOT to put a screen in your car. All that juicy data, waiting to be collected and sold. If Watch_Dogs taught me anything, its that making our world smarter only makes us more vulnerable. 4 - We were able to get around WITHOUT a screen in our car. A phone mount, a bluetooth adapter, and a dashcam make my 2012 mini cooper feel like a 2025 modern smartcar. Sure it sucks that I had to buy the external upgrades, but I've still got modern conveniences like seat warmers, AC, cruise control, traction control. (The only feature I can give Tesla is Self-Driving mode, which is still in beta, so you're more of a test subject and not a paying customer) 5 - (This is a personal rant) A screen looks fancy, until you realize its actually cheaper to call it a software problem, rather than manufacturing dedicated switches. Making it even harder to repair, since your mechanic now has to learn to code, alnogside manual labor if a part is broken.

The only benefit I see in buying the latest car is if you're worried about the car being overworked. Aka its legit old and undrivable, but the way I see it, its cheaper to fix your old car over breaking your brand new cybertruck before its off the lot.

  • Particular Problem with Rest Mode

So I've recently started to replay Watch_Dogs (digital version) on PS5 and oddly enough, it's the only game that won't suspend in rest mode. The console itself has to tell me it won't keep the game open and it'll close in 30 seconds. I've played both PS4/5 and use both digital and physical copies between my library. Anyone have an explanation?
