St. Louis Race Massacre (1917) On this day in 1917, white mobs in East St. Louis began indiscriminately killing black people, burning down homes with the families trapped inside, killing more than...
  • "Racial tensions had begun to increase in February, when 470 black workers were hired to replace white workers who had gone on strike against the Aluminum Ore Company. The use of all-white workforces and using non-white strikebreakers was an often used tactic to break working class solidarity." Sure sounds like the Aluminum Ore Company has some culpability.

  • Pandemics causing death are linked with increases in support for radical political movements, all the way back to the 1918 flu pandemic and the birth of 20th century fascism
  • Something not considered in this paper, Post Viral Syndromes, may also be a factor. Though some acknowledgement of post viral syndromes dates to at least the 1950's, it's only with the COVID19 pandemic that modern medicine has really begun to take a look at this with some seriousness. These PVS's can affect many organs in the body, specifically the nervous system, and including cognition.

  • What secret conspiracy would you like to actually start letting other people know?
  • None of them! All of my secret conspiracies are SECRET!

  • This homemade hat has a secret function... It's a bag. It's a bag hat. | Simone Giertz
  • Ah that explains the Hat Bag/ Bag Hat. For it to work properly one would need to have a dent in one's skull the size of one's cargo. Think of the hat gag from last week, and sneaking a roast chicken into the theater. ;-)

  • What's growing on, Beehaw?
  • Thornless was also a 'selling point'. Mine were a gift from another gardener. And being raspberries they try to spread beyond their allotted space. So I dig them and put them up on freecycle. It's super popular, and they can spread their DNA in someone else's garden. :-D

  • Venmo/ Paypal Alternatives

I've long been annoyed that everyone, including myself uses Paypal/ Venmo for moving money around. What alternatives do you find useful? Here's a list (https://alternativeto.net/software/venmo/). GNU Taler looks viable (https://taler.net/en/index.html). I would love to have your thoughts!

Edit: Thanks for everyone's input. I really appreciate it. <3

    Sharing EV Charging Station

Is anyone sharing their charging station. Using Plugshare, or some other method. I'm curious how this would work. As of now I'm producing more electrons than I'm using on a grid tied PV system. And my power company has different pricing depending on time of day, as well.

    Fukumushi Sencha - cold brew

I've been exploring/enjoying Sencha. And I came across the idea of cold brewing. It seemed heretical at first, as I was used to precise temperature and time. I've found that I enjoy it very much. https://www.sugimotousa.com/blog/how-to-cold-brew-green-tea-and-why-you-should-do-it#sencha
