Internet Archive forced to remove 500,000 books after publishers’ court win
  • It would be useful to have a list of the missing books for reasons.

I'll see if i can find it.

  • Florida’s other big November vote: will the state legalize weed?
  • Nothing against weed itself but I hope it doesn't pass. Those people don't need another coping mechanism, they need to vote out the fucking trash.

this is a dumb take, who do you think keeps getting thrown in prison and having their voting rights taken away? I'll tell ya, it's not the boomer magas living in the voter fraud capital of Florida, The Villages.

It would be great if people would stop parroting this russian troll "joke" designed to make you hate those who need your help.

  • We can dream right
  • damn. well, they weren't the classiest bunch, so im not surprised, but i am disappointed

  • We can dream right
  • Chappie was bad, and I say that as a Die Antwoord enjoyer.

  • We can dream right
  • This person is the kind of person that would keep wishing on a monkey paw. The rest of Niell Blomkamp's movies have been not great, and a sequel would probably be so bad to make the original worse.

  • Florida’s 6-week abortion ban is now in effect. Clinics in the state are scrambling.

  • Union Maritime to build new vessels with WindWings - BAR Technologies
  • sails are old and slow, WindWings are new and sexy!

They probably have AI and Blockchain integrated to take advantage of maritime web 3 serverless infrastructure for cyber synergies.

  • A Smooth Sea Never Made a Killed Sailor
  • I think that's a snake bird.

  • Redress of Grievances?
  • I took back my downvote. I'm sorry.

  • Redress of Grievances?
  • Which government? I think there might be more than one, but I have been wrong before.

  • My pick is Rubberband Man by The Spinners.
  • La Gota Fria by Carlos Vives

  • Amazon employee in Ontario collapses, dies after fire alarm sent staff into deep cold
  • "We won’t speculate on the cause of death, but the incident itself does not appear to be work-related."

I think thats enough for me today. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

    For what?

  • The Chinese typewriter from the 1930s
  • Is there a way to see this without going to twitter?

  • Henry Cavill's Highlander reboot is moving forward with John Wick director at the helm
  • Remake movies that had good ideas and poor execution, or visa versa. Don't bother remaking movies that are already good.

I just watched Highlander a few weeks ago and I think this one qualifies as good idea, poor execution. The one scottish person on the cast played a spaniard, and it's not just some scottish dude. Why didn't they make the main character a frenchman?! He doesnt even use a scottish sword!

  • Microsoft develops ultra durable glass plates that can store several TBs of data for 10000 years
  • Interesting replies but I’m just wondering what file format to use.

ascii + markdown for text if you're from the US

Don’t we have troubles opening stuff from 4-5 os versions ago?

Yeah, but that is because people want to make money and so make their file formats difficult to understand on purpose.

Whatever creatures discover our mystical tablets will hopefully be far smarter than us, or they'll use the sum of human knowledge to tile their bathrooms.

  • DOJ sues eBay for selling ‘rolling coal’ devices; fines could hit $2 billion
  • So ebay, who profited from the sale of these devices, shouldn't be held accountable?

Did ebay stop any listings for these devices? It seems like if they were trying to stop this market, they would have stopped some number above zero, right?

Try selling a human limb on ebay and see how quickly your listing is removed, not that I'm bitter or anything.

edit: it kinda seems like they were trying to be compliant.

  • Windows 12 May Require a Subscription
  • They would probably shut it down after 2 years. Sooner if it was any good.
