I feel this. Just as I was beginning to more fully transition among my friends, things like name and presentation, a wedding came up in my family, so now working on getting better with some of my stuff has just been put on hold.

Okay, I don’t have a single book that perfectly relates to everything you said, but I’ve got a small list of books I that relate to transness and gender as a whole. I’m going to put them in a rough order of “approachability” with the first being a good primer to thinking about gender and inclusivity and the last being very academic and in depth historical analysis. All links provided take you to bookwyrm pages, a Fedi book info and review site.

I’d like to make it clear these are by no means the end all be all of books on transness. They are just the books I’ve read over the last few months. I’m not even sure how the broader community feels about all these books. I am recommending them solely because I didn’t actively dislike them, and in most cases enjoyed them, and they effectively got me thinking about my own journey and trans experience.

Also how can you have a section on books and library access without mentioning Libby is a shame. The apps carries so much weight as far as bridging the gap between public libraries and primarily digital customers.

While this seems like a decent starting point I’ve got a few issues with this list. As others have mentioned there is little in the way of justification for these suggestions, and while I happen to agree with plenty of them, I’d personally like to see more reasoning, if not to appease people that already have opinions then to help newer users understand their options.

On the topic of newer users I think an aggregate list like this should include a basic rundown on what adoption/migration/onboarding looks like for these services. Demystifying that process can lift a lot of the perceived weight non-“power users” might feel when faced with the leap from corporate platforms.

Overall I think this is a good resource, and at least gives people some starting points, but it’s not without its flaws.

Yeah, I’ve largely figured out how to change all these settings from configs for myself, just always on the lookout for a nice gui. I’m slowly working to make a Linux experience I can install for my relatives that makes the transition from crapware Windows relatively painless.

Another Fastmail user. I’m happy with it. The unlimited alias and masked emails are nice. From what I can tell I’ve only ever gotten emails from things I have directly and explicitly given my info to, so I’m assuming my email address isn’t being sold around resulting in lots of spam.

I had pretty good luck with Garuda on an old gaming laptop. In fact I’m pretty sure gaming wise it worked out of the box. Any tweaks I made were for other use cases.

Kind of an odd suggestion, and I know this might not work if you’re someone who wants to place themselves in the story, but if you’re looking for healthier, better adjusted men in literature, try some queer or gay romance. Not sure exactly your desired age/reading level, but Red, White, and Royal Blue is cute, and while socio economic status makes the main character slightly less relatable, it’s still a nice read. There’s plenty of other excellent queer romance that has well written men. If you also enjoy fantasy and political intrigue, Priory of the Orange Tree has excellent world building and a few romance subplots I think are very sweet.

Yeah, by my understanding this is by design. However, there’s nothing stopping you from running multiple instances for each user account on a computer, assuming you are running Linux and are using the Syncthing CLI. Probably can’t do that on windows though.

Yeah, I’d also generally prefer to use my front matter for my global tagging and sorting so I can keep my templating consistent. I’m not explicitly opposed to adding more, but in an ideal world I’d keep my front matter pretty trim.

I’ll do some experiments of my own with data view and such to see if I can get some good functionality.

Presumably you can spin it more the 360 degrees so the opening could be repositioned over already empty slots, but that doesn’t really count as “refillable” given how slow of a process that would be.

Yes? I believe so, but I also take two different shaped pills, both twice a day. I’d be happy with a disk for each or a disk that only does 1 week and has an opening that provides pills in pairs. Or something similar.
