I like listening to historical podcasts, and my favorites are "The History of Rome" (which has finished) and its followup "The History of Byzantium" and "Hardcore History" . I've heard good things about "Revolutions" by the creator of "The History of Rome" but I haven't checked it out yet.

Also I've been enjoying "Fall of Civilizations" a lot, but so far have only listened to a few of the episodes.

I can't believe you went for these obscure examples like the US or the EU and not the most obvious example: the United Federation of Planets from Star Trek, of course!

Imgur does have comments and votes. They tried to make it an actual community... It didn't work, for the most part.

There was (is?) a subreddit about random imgur comments who didn't understand that people used it just as a hosting website to share images with other communities, notably reddit. I think it was lost on imgur or something? Haven't been there in a while and can't find it. I can find "Ignorant imgur" but it's so inactive, I don't think that is it.

I changed it on my settings and it didn't seem to work at first. But a few minutes later it was changed. Make sure you are saving the changes too!

I love active as an option! But right now, it being the default, it just makes people keep commenting on the same posts every day. I'd use it much more if it wasn't the default.

Reminds me of using the internet years and years ago, finding small communities I liked, joining them and feeling compelled to contribute... I didn't even realize I missed it.

So do I. But trying out DnD with a group of friends has been super fun. We were lucky to have one person who has played it for over 10 years who was able to DM for us. Try not to be a DM on your first sessions, find someone experienced, and you won't feel that cringe you're talking about.

Help me out here. I'm 90% sure that I should be able to get to !ttrpgs@lemmy.blahaj.zone on my instance just by clicking that link. But it takes me to that page in its original community, which is not useful at all. Even the link I just made goes to the page in lemmy.blahaj.zone... I can search for it from my instance, sure, but it would be much easier if I could just click it. Is there any way to do that? Maybe even a browser extension or a third party mobile app?
