What are your favorite bands from more obscure, lesser known countries?
  • Sweet! Also check Doch Chkae (like a dog), also Khmer metal (and all Cambodians).

Baceprot, listened to them a few months back and, while nice they're getting coverage, it didn't grab me. Hoping they mature well in the coming year!

Oh, and check After God also (Khmer). Drummer turned singer, just released an EP (YouTube I think).

  • What are your favorite bands from more obscure, lesser known countries?
  • Kenya: Just a Band. Funky, rocky at times, just great music.

Iran: not a band, but a movie representation of the scene. No One Knows About Persian Cats. I have a personal connection to this movie; if you watch it, let me know and I'll fill you in (not publicly though, you'll understand why).

Cambodia: Reign in Slumber. Metal. Changed singers (new one is from the Philippines), still great.

Vietnam: Cut Lon. Metal. Used to dress in hilarious Pikachu balaclavas. Fun, loud, entertaining.

Belarus: Molchat Doma. Gloomy. Oppressive. Wonderful. Makes me think of the Soviet Union in the 70s (not that I was there or alive then).

Undecided voters say they now support Joe Biden after debate
  • If you want to see somebody tap dancing, go to Broadway.

What part of any of my posts has suggested I need entertainment?

No one is saying Biden came off looking like he did well, many in politics have admitted it went badly:

    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cv2gx7d0qwdo

    Yup. Insignificant performing pundits.

I'd suggest not ignoring this, but then we are insignificant. Actual politicians are saying this is worrying.

  • Undecided voters say they now support Joe Biden after debate
  • Calls for biden to step down are not significant in the real world, they are baseless epithets repeated on the internet by anonymous strangers or established conservatives.

They may not be "significant", but you have political commentators (see: The Rest is Politics, former British MPs, a commentator and Scaramucci) thinking it would be for the best.

You may not think it is important that Biden is struggling to string answers together, but I assure you that the public does, of which tens of millions will have come out of it thinking: shit, the Republican cries that Biden has lost it will ring true.

I think your last comment is misconstruing what a lot of people think; I do not have any opinions because of trolls, I have only posted a few times here and spoke to a couple of friends (and listened to The Rest is Politics) about it... it does not look good at all.

He is older than my grandparents than when they passed away, and is less coherent than my grandma was, by far. There is no reason he should be in this position, the Democrats need someone better who can articulate themselves (regardless of any stutter, that is not what I'm referring to) and respond to things they have practiced on in mock debates behind closed doors.

The more this goes on the worse this gets for Biden; September is going to be very worrying for the next debate.

  • Undecided voters say they now support Joe Biden after debate
  • I watched the first ten minutes of the 'debate' and had had enough.

I don't know how many watched the ones prior and subsequent to this, but... 68m people (if I remember rightly) watched this.

The past four years don't mean much for the forthcoming election at the end of the year when the concerns of people are not being addressed, by someone who struggles to walk and speak coherently.

    https://open.spotify.com/episode/0jXKYxpaiUE5fSPyiHKnQN?si=42896b8bbce34857

There are plenty of people worried about this, and calls for him to step down are significant. If he's like this now, what's he going to be like in his mid-80s? This does not look good.

You can say: the past four years! as much as you like, it won't matter if Biden loses, which is a more realistic prospect than it was last week.

  • Even Apple finally admits that 8GB RAM isn't enough
  • I don't know what Xcode is so yeah, I haven't been found wanting with my 8GB M2. Videos, downloading, web browsing, writing, chat applications, some photo editing, games (what I can actually play on a Mac, anyway), all good here.

16GB+ is obviously going to be necessary though, and not exactly that expensive to put into their base models so it should be put in soon.

Any recommendations of an online ASD/ADHD psychiatrist/counsellor?

The place I want to do an online session with is not so responsive online and mainly (or solely?) does in-person visits, in a different country.

Looking for a recommendation for ASD/ADHD support, someone who is knowledgeable about meds (I already have mine), side effects, long-term usage, etc.

    Thanks.

Which software is best for making a video with presentation?

I am trying to do short presentations (3-5 slides) and would like my video (MacBook Air M2, if that's of help) in the corner, explaining what's on screen at the same time. The only audio would be from my headset or computer microphone.

Google Slides used to have the feature but I can't find it anymore. The easier the better (so recording once rather than recording the video, then overlaying it on the slideshow would be better).

    Thanks!

Changed meds, now getting irrationally angry on downtime

I was initially given Ritalin (10mg pills) to try out; I cut them into four pieces each and spread it over the next month and a half. It worked well, allowed me to work, and felt 'smooth'.

I ran out, found that they are expensive here (I was diagnosed and prescribed a week of pills - 14 - initially in Taiwan), and went to Thailand (neighbouring country) to get more. Turns out the place I went to only had Rubifen, a generic variant. It was about the same as I paid for Ritalin so I thought why not, and got enough to get me through the next year.

Fast forward a month and a half... when I am on my 'off' days (Sat & Sun, when I don't need to work or study), I am now reacting to things pretty badly. I snapped at my partner very easily, I almost put a window through because I knocked a bottle over, and generally had a miserable weekend. With Rubifen, I feel fine, able to complete tasks, work and whatnot. Without it I'm not sure I should be around other people. Is this normal? Will it level off or should I go and get something else instead?
