Metrolinx says e-bike batteries that don't meet standards won't be allowed on trains

And how would they enforce that? I think this is a futile endeavor. It's fine to have the rule on the books but to really solve this problem I think we have to stop the influx of these products at the ports. Otherwise every entity has to play impossible whackamole that the dropshippers are gonna win.

As the luck would have it, Grin Tech just released a talk on ebike battery fires.

Enforcing this would be even more of a PITA when people start putting fake UL stickers on their battery just to make it seem legit.

I mean, there have been E-scooters sold with fake UL certification stickers on them. It could easy happen with ebike batteries.

The rule will be to say "requires CSA-certified batteries to ride on GO" and enforcement will be to hope for the best, as always.
