I've seen one today and one yesterday. It's basically a post saying "Here's this great software that does this and this. Download a cracked version here for free!"
they seemed to be leaking in from one particular instance I was subbed to. I unsubbed from that instance before coffee this morning and now I can't even remember which one it was, so I'm seeing fewer of them, at least.
Yea, no clue, very annoying to deal with. I've been building tools to allow us to delete them faster. Some information on how it currently works: if a post get's reported more than 3 times in a short time, some people get notified and they can identify whether it's spam and then instantly delete it. We also have an automod made by Rooki which has a list of blacklisted URL's. If anyone has any ideas on how to improve this, feel free to share.
I agree. Reminds me of the days I moderated a discord server, where I coded a bot to end the spam waves. Lemmy API has the endpoints for moderation too, so maybe a similar approach could be used here?
