Is there a way to disable live updates?

i just like opening up a million tabs and going through them on my own pace, feels weird when the site moves about on it's own

All of the communication between your browser and the server is being overhauled in the next version of Lemmy, and it seems that for the time being, this will also disable live updates!
- i think i ought to at least disable notifications until they do
  
  Wow, I've never seen that behavior. I'm fairly certain that it must be a bug. Reminds me of a Solitaire victory 😂
I agree. And sometimes it bugs out and then floods the timeline with all kinds of (old) posts and you can't make it stahp! :)
- Yeah mine lately randomly floods with what looks like an entire German instance’s feed, and then switch back to normal as I scroll
The default webui needs many updates to become more usable for a wider range of users. I also don't like how the page updates wildly when I'm trying to read through. Either the updating should work more smoothly to not make the user disoriented, or maybe have a preference for paged scrolling or something along those lines...
