Sokoke Scops Owls
The smallest of the Scops owls, the Sokoke Scops is named after the Sokoke region of Kenya in which it was found. It was discovered only in the 1960s in a narrow band of woodlands between Kenya and Tanzania.
It only inhabits forests that have 2 particular types of trees, which are suspected to be necessary for their nesting.
These guys are super fuzzy looking and cute, so I'm going to save more of the limited info on them for another day. As you can see, they come in both a red and grey morph. Baby is featured in the center.
