I think coffee is more like a potion that temporarily increases a stat, only for it to cause a bigger decrease once it wears off.
Coffee does not wake you up, it allows you to ignore that you are tired for a short time.

8 0 ReplyCoffee is a stamina potion with a debuff when it wears off.
7 0 ReplyAnd also is a diuretic which causes people to need to poop. Not great for battle.
Similarly, cough syrup doesn't actually fix anything. It just makes you cough a bit less while still being sick.
4 0 ReplyIIRC, diuretics make people pee, not poop. Caffeine stimulates the colon which makes people need to poop, which is unrelated to it being a diuretic. Diuretics can cause constipation because they pull water from the digestive tract.

From now on, when I've got a cold and I'm working on fixing bugs in our code while living off coffee and cough syrup, I'm calling it a dungeon crawl.
21 0 ReplyCough syrup is a sleeping potion. Sleep is what heals.
