In a bid to help protect elephants and rhinos amid plummeting biodiversity worldwide, Canada has banned the import and export of hunting trophies containing elephant tusks or rhino horns.
It's probably still legal in China. Those "traditional medicine" wackadoos will put anything in their bodies if you claim it came from a dragon.
As opposed to here in America, where the wackadoos will put anything in their bodies if they're sold by a celebrity that reinforces their cultural preconceptions.
Idk maybe it was allowed to import old ivory from when it wasn't illegal to kill these animals. Probably didn't stop the poaching because you can claim it's old ivory. Says it's still allowed with a permit for museum or scientific research.
Yeah that would suck if you had to rip them off if you wanted the piano. I'm surprised they were used in the first place. Was it a luxury? I mean I can easily polish a bone with more luster than a piece of ivory.
I don't know. They do look and feel pretty nice though. The patterns are more interesting than just white. But of course shouldn't be killing elephants for them.
