'Putin's mistakes' giving US 'once-in-a-generation' chance to recruit Russian spies, says CIA director

William Burns says the aborted mutiny was a challenge to the Russian state that showed the corrosive effect of Mr Putin's war in Ukraine.

Ah, nice. CIA doing what they do best: adding fuel to the fire and spreading mistrust
- When it comes to rogue nuclear states, having spies is a generally a good thing. Helps us plan for contingencies.
  
  Announcing the intention to spy is probably not a good idea though.
  
  I'd guess they're either advertising to possible dissenters, or sowing distrust.
