Literally perfect.
  • It's a pretty bad-ass design, my dream one day is to get a MUCH larger 3D printer so I can print them larger than 10-inch in diameter. Maybe I'll take the time to make molds which I can use to cast larger ones out of solid concrete.

Just rained it's ass off yesterday so it's full of fresh water right now haha

  • Literally perfect.
  • Love purple pitcher plants. I 3D print bog planters (imagine a pot intended to keep water swampy) and they love it. I actually just propagated the plant to make another pitcher plant in another freshly printed pot - they're so fun.

  • Every single Onewheel is being recalled after four deaths
  • The brewery I hang out at sells the onewheels - they're an authorized dealer. The brewer and co-owners all have XR's which they ride all around town. It sounds great, they use them often.....

Except when you talk to them about their injuries... One guy fell and broke his wrist once, another guy broke and cracked a rib, the brewer broke his shoulder one time, then his wrist another time.

    Yet they still ride them!!

I got a pint - rode it a few times until I few off once and haven't ridden it since. I'm looking forward to selling it soon enough.

  • All Those NFTs Are Officially Worthless
  • I know someone who made some money on bitcoin (enough to 'retire' in his 30's) - he's proud of his NFT collection and even has a large print of one of those dumb apes which he owns lol.

I don't hear him talking much about cryptos and such these days. (Instead I hear a lot more about how it's "over" for Ukraine any day now, lol)

  • 95% of NFTs are Worthless: Report
  • Everyone has a unique identifier. If you don't share that with anyone, how would they know who's vote it is? Couldn't the number be randomized and a new UUID provided on a routine basis?

Every American has a Social Security number, but it's not exactly like we're told to broadcast it to the world...... I don't see why something like that couldn't be implemented here using technology.

My point is the general ledger technology of the blockchain which would be beneficial here.

But of course this is all a pipe dream. America is damn near a Kleptocracy and both political parties have written laws to prevent a third political party from ever arising.

  • 95% of NFTs are Worthless: Report
  • I'd love to see that happen, But it's because America won't switch to a direct democracy. Instead we have a Kleptocracy run by corporations and the 1% who have power over both parties in America. However if it were possible to create a third political party where every member of the party earns only one vote maybe it would give people power back over corporations. But it's a pipe dream, I know it'll never happen.

  • 95% of NFTs are Worthless: Report
  • I personally envision a future where we use blockchain technology to create a new direct democracy party in which every member has a unique identifier and the blockchain ledger system used to track polling data. Every individual member of the party would have one vote in each poll at ever level (federal, state, regional, etc) - for every single thing that gets a vote, and the elected politician representing that party would be required to vote based on the polling data.

Everyone would have access to a copy of the ledger to confirm their votes are counted accurately, and they can review polling data to confirm their elected politicians are voting based on polling data, and the representative would be replaced if they do not adhere to the results

  • Ketchup With Those Fries? Sure—as Long as It’s Anti-Woke: Those Bud Light protests just scratched the surface. The right wing is constructing an entire parallel economy, from coffee to banks
  • I've been so tempted to make and sell custom flags printed with pro-Biden/LGBTQ themes, then have pro-trump messaging printed on top using a water-soluble ink so that these idiots would hang the flags proudly like they always do........only to have the flags change completely the first time it rains hahaha. I'd love to see them frantically trying to pull down a flag in a rainstorm 😂

  • Pentagon-Funded Study Warns Dementia Among U.S. Officials Poses National Security Threat
  • Someone else recently explained it best: It's elderly abuse.

The entourage encircling these elderly congressional leaders are profiting greatly. As soon as these senators retire, these leeches lose nearly everything.

It's a Weekend At Bernie's movie plot, but with extra steps.

  • McDonald's plans to transition away from self-serve soda fountains in US by 2032
  • Oh I'm not disagreeing with you that it's a bullshit reason - but I can bet that some penny pincher accountant working at McDonalds proved the company could save $X million (single digit lol) if they did this change. Never forget how a dude working for American Airlines in the 1980's figured out that removing one olive from each salad in first class would save over $40k per year.

  • McDonald's plans to transition away from self-serve soda fountains in US by 2032
  • I don't think people know how much pride McDonalds takes in their soda machines. They are kinda strict about them - the water must be chilled to a certain temperature (I think it's a trade secret, but probably like 35F lol) so it retains higher carbonation, and they have a higher ratio of syrup to water so it tastes better than their competitors.

This is likely due to to abuse by people who helped themselves to multiple free refills, including people who haven't bought anything but sneaking in to get a free drink (it's like $0.10 per drink, I get it - but I'm sure to the penny pinchers trying to justify their executive job, that translates into millions in revenue lost per year for the corporation).

  • [Shower Thought] I was never "good" at Linux CLI, ChatGPT has helped tremendously

I'll be honest, I've always tinkered with ubuntu and even older versions of linux (Anyone remember Mandrake? Yeah I'm old lol), I had even built my own HTPC at one point many many years ago.

But I always encountered problems that frustrated me forcing me to eventually abandon the OS in favor of something new. For example, installing programs or drivers that weren't in the software manager GUI, checking USB and device connections, etc.

I was a windows guy and I hate to admit it. It was just "easier" so I usually took the path of least resistance to getting things working efficiently for my productivity needs.

But ChatGPT has really unlocked things for my novice self.

Everything from simple questions to fun ones. Like I had an SD card showing as empty, but I thought it had been formatted, so I asked ChatGPT how to recover lost data on the card, and it walked me through every step - I recovered a ton of data off that card.

I just installed Linux Mint on an older Lenovo laptop and it's awesome to have a fast portable laptop again.

I'm excited to dual-boot my older HP Envy AIO computer in the near future, windows 10 has become too buggy for my tastes lately.

I have a set of Bose QuietComfort earbuds I wear daily for workouts. I finally killed them and in the market for something new. I'm looking for higher end name-brand earbuds which would work for my exercising needs (bicycle rides, and gym workouts). ANC is necessary (but pretty common on all the top brands/TWS earbuds these days).

I was thinking about the Bose QC2 as it would be the logical upgrade, but I've heard mix reviews about them and I can't figure out if it was just a bad batch of earbuds or if it's a poorly designed product.

I guess the Sony XM4's would be a logical alternative but I don't know how comfortable they are for exercising

Edit - Android user, so apple airpods aren't an ideal option

I'm still confused by this site - where are notifications???

I would use this site a heck of a lot more if I actually saw when people replied to one of my "article" posts. But right now my notifications sit empty unless I tag a user or they tag me.

That's very frustrating. I find myself using Squabbles more often for chat just because at least their notifications are working correctly.

Has this issue been fixed and it's just a bug on my side, or do I need to enable something?
