Molly background use?

Why does Molly tend to always run as a background service when Signal didn't? Doesn't seem to use much more battery so I guess it's no biggy, just curious

  3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA); Street names include: Adam, Beans, Biscuit, Clarity, Disco Biscuit, E, Eve, Go, Hug Drug, Lover’s Speed, Peace, STP, X, XTC... and of course, Molly.
Signal did run as a background service with Google play, Molly as been running as a background service on my phone for 1 day and 6 hours and used 1% of my battery.
