A billboard truck drove through the streets surrounding Harvard’s campus Wednesday, digitally displaying the names and faces of students allegedly affiliated with student groups that signed onto a controversial statement on Hamas’ attack on Israel.
It's impossible to have a real discussion about this topic, especially right now. Anything other than "Israel is perfect and an innocent victim" is viewed as anti-semitic hate speech.
I almost did, but it occurred to me that I'm not sure what Zionism really means. I suppose some people sincerely believe in it, but is it fair for the term to include people who are just in it for the real estate, people who just use it as a political cudgel, or Christian evangelical doomsayers? Furthermore, there have to be a few Zionists who would acquiesce to Palestinian demands or disagree that it should be in Palestine, right?
