As Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) launches his rebellion against House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), multiple reports indicate that House Republicans are looking to get rid of the Florida congressman altogether. According to a report from CNN, an unnamed House Republican said that the caucus wants Gaetz go...
Fucking a teenager is why Republicans want to allow child marriage. His only crime to them was not marrying her after he trafficked her. That's forgivable. Being unbearable might possibly not be.
I mean I loathe all of them too, but the rest of the quote is about his morals, and it's the results of that investigation that they intend to base this on.
. . . as well before as afterwards, make and declare, with a loud voice, certain intemperate, inflammatory and scandalous harangues, and therein utter loud threats and bitter menaces, as well against Congress as the laws of the United States duly enacted thereby, amid the cries, jeers and laughter of the multitudes then assembled in hearing, which are set forth in the several specifications hereinafter written, in substance and effect . . .
Which is 19th century formal language for "this guy is an asshole".
Mind you, the Senate never voted on this particular article, and Johnson was otherwise acquitted. It remains unclear if you can remove a President for being an asshole, but there is some precedent that suggests you can.

The majority of Texans are down for that. He only wins re-election on the basis he isn't a Democrat. No one on either side likes him, the Republicans just tolerate him.
If they do and don't elect a Republican to replace him, and if they expel Santos and his replacement in the special election isn't a republican, there goes the GOP majority
Odds of the house GOP giving up their majority/control are exceedingly low. If there's one thing they'll prioritize, it's keeping their own power
I increasingly believe that they don't actually care. For the hardliners, keeping a majority is like a distant second place motivation to just keeping their own jobs, and they are under bigger threat from the right in these districts. Really, the house majority probably ranks like third or fourth somewhere between "get book deal where the RNC buys 100k copies" and "take bribes from Russia." All things which are arguably easier as an opposition party which doesn't actually have to govern.
Can I just volunteer to live in the state primarily populated by cows? That sounds wonderful. Cows make better neighbors then most people. Maybe I can vote a cow in as our state representative.
