Google’s recent decision to omit Pixel device trees and compress the Pixel kernel source history has made our work in this area even more important. Going forward, Fairphone devices can be used as potential “reference devices” for open-source ROMs.

Does anyone know if Fairphone supports tap-to-pay options? I tried GrapheneOS and although most of it was fine, the inability to use Google wallet for tap to pay was a deal-breaker.
My local credit Union doesn't have an app that supports NFC, and since I'm based in the US, my options are relatively limited.
Oh, and I don't want to buy a smartwatch just so I can put Google wallet on that instead.
- The bank makes these little plastic rectangles called debit cards that you can use.

  I think this wouldn't help you anyway, because without Google wallet on the phone you can't set it up on the watch.
  
  You can still set up a payment method on the watch via Google Wallet even if your phone is rooted. I did this for a year or so with my Pixel watch, before I decided to ditch that for my PineTime watch.

- Yeah tap to pay using Google pay definitely works on the Fairphone 6
- Yes it does. But it depends on your bank's app as well.

  For real. Trading convenience for security is how we got here though so I really shouldn't be surprised.

- Tried any Garmin watch options? Those have decent policy and work fine on my GOS
  
  I wish there was a fingerprint unlocking option in Garmin tap-to-pay instead of the 4-digit code that everybody can see clearly

can't wait for the FP7 so i can buy a fairphone. Unless they still.use a USB 2.0 USB port. In which case I will use my current phone until its dead in the water.

  Faster file transfer speeds if I'm taking video off the phone, and I would like to purchase a Nexdock eventually so I can have an easy small thing to carry around for server administration instead of my 16" laptop.
- I agree that USB 2.0 isn’t acceptable anymore, but it is what most phones are shipping, even at the highest end. I can see it being difficult for Fairphone to include faster ports, especially when most consumers don’t care too much about it. Are you using a phone with USB 3.0??

I'm excited to see what people do with the Moments button, because at the moment I barely use it. It'd be great to find an imaginative use for it
- I'm using it for the phone torch. I'd love to try integrating it with home assistant to control my room lights.
  
  You might be able to integrate it with some sort of presence detection sensor so that when you pressed the button on your phone, whichever room you are in would be the one that would react to it.
- I am missing the point of the Moments button (as designed by them) to be honest.
