Didn't the brits wear wigs?
Now having long hair is "feminine"?
What the fuck happened?
The same as the Mormons.
Catholic church signs be like “All are welcome here” meanwhile if you don’t abide by specific arbitrary rituals, beliefs, and behaviors then they say you are categorically evil
I’m a former Catholic that left due to the corruption, harm, and hypocrisy. That said, they never paint people as categorically evil from what I remember. They don’t even consider being gay to be a sin, they just believe that any sex not for the intentional aim of procreation is a sin. Even then, sin isn’t a serious black mark because everyone sins. They will forgive even mass murderers. Still, I don’t regret walking away in the slightest.
Forgiveness is a requirement because actually abiding by the rules is impossible. It is designed that way so you're obligated to seek forgivenes and stay within the church's influence.
It's hard to procreate when the priests prefer sex with boys.
They do clarify that gay people should be treated with respect, they just also believe that any homosexual act is gravely depraved and “intrinsically disordered” and that all gay people should just remain single and celibate.

So, technically slightly better than just saying being gay is a sin, but only barely. There are a lot of reasons I left the church, but this one was a big factor.
Categorically evil is more of a Calvinist thing.
I do have a certain respect for the Catholics who tend towards "the point is to repent for your sins, not avoid sins in the first place". There's an honesty behind it.
We can get around the sex thing by having a bff who "secretly" doses you with birth control. You just have to hint and wink and suggest and hope they get the message.
If you get pregnant, they weren't your real friend in the first place.
I don't know the equivalent for guys. A friend who waits in your bathroom and tackles you with a condom when you're about to bang?
*don't do this with more than one bff!
Obviously the hair style is reserved for the supreme leader
...and women.
yes... the supreme leader
A friend of mine convinced me to go to a community lunch with the bishop, he and I both had long hair in our high school, but the dioscese wanted boys hair cut short. So we went and made a fuss at this mild lunch with a bunch of grandmas in the basement of some church that was serving chicken noodle soup.
Turns out he was knowingly sheltering pedophile priests in our diocese for years.
How did you find that information out, when they got busted I'm certain, but I'm not entirely sure
I had lived away from home for decades when it came out. Tbh I admired this man when I was a teenager
Tbf wasn't he likely short-haired in reality?
Yeah, Hank Green actually had a really interesting video recently on his channel on YouTube where he talked about this
On the one hand, yes, contemporary Palestinians seem to have had relatively short hair.
On the other hand, perhaps the oldest known depiction of Jesus has him with the head of a donkey, so there's that.
True depiction:
Even asking if the same rules could apply to everybody is somewhere between disobedience and sacrilege.
Reminds me of a story where a school kid asks if Jesus went to the toilet like everybody else, and almost got expelled for it.
Since Jesus was fully human and fully divine would it not be sacrilegious to imply that Jesus did not go to the bathroom?
Also wearing a gown and sandals with 12 other long haired dudes.
My grandmother (may she rest easy), an amazing and sweet woman, but incredibly Catholic, once told me "boys shouldn't have long hair." I told her that the Jesus she worships had long hair. Still feel a little guilty about it, but it had to be said.
Hey Church figures which Jesus counts as never have had to follow their own rules for the "commoners". Rich history of do what I say not what I do.
Ah, that explains why we're not supposed to feed the hungry or heal the sick.
