Great. More expensive infrastructure investments to get passed onto the consumer through even higher ticket and concession prices at a time of record low disposable entertainment income resulting in theater gentrification. Just what the market needed
- Okay, but the upgrade at my local theatre was so worth it. They sell burgers and booze. Waitresses deliver it to your seat. They have actual good recliners.
  Makes for a phenomenal date night.

  Still have blurry dim projectors. And $35 burgers don't taste that good.
Do people still go to the theater regularly? I think I've been once since COVID lockdowns ended.
- I go probably twice every three weeks.
  I love going to the movies.
  
  I used to, but it just became so prohibitively expensive. $20 for a ticket, $15 for popcorn and a drink, not to mention driving to the theater and having to watch it when the theater decides to play it. I'd rather stay home and stream something instead.
- I go to the theatre for two reasons: big screen and dialogue you can actually hear.
  A top of the line home theatre projector costs $5,000. And you have to replace the bulbs. If you want a good screen to beam it on, that sets you back $6,000.
  Then there’s the dumpster fire that is sound. You can’t hear people talk. And I have a good 5.1 surround sound Sony system. But go to the theatre, that’s not a problem—you can actually hear dialogue.
  Will I pay $20 for a good theatre experience? Hell, yeah.
  
  You really can't put a price on listening to someone take a call mid movie and the gentle wafting of farts.
  $11,000 for a home theatre? is is 1992?
  
  Sounds like you should work on your equipment.
  A decent LED screen is 1-1.5k for 70-85". After that OLED would be better than projector.
  Sound wise... Something is wack or you're talking about piss poor quality streams or TV. Blu-ray, UHD BD, and good rips don't have this problem with even half decent sound bars, let alone 5.1 surround systems.

- I can’t remember going to anything besides Godzilla Minus One
- Maybe if theatres played anything but Hollywood superhero crap I'd consider it.
  I only see the point in a local rep cinema.
- I have a small indie-chain theater near me that I go to maybe 4-5 times a year. I also have a projector with a home theater room, so I'm a bit of an enthusiast.
There are over 2,000 cinemas in the US. $750K each is not a lot.
