What does that mean "temporarily"!? How do you temporarily fire someone?
My guess is that it isn't the firing that's temporary, it's the permission. As in, the President can do that as long as it's Trump, but it stops being allowed if a Democrat gets in office.
(That's probably not what they'll claim it means, but I bet that's how it'll work in practice.)
It means Trump can fire the Chair, at least until the decision. If it goes against him, the Chair is reinstated. It's a stupid decision since Trump doesn't apparently have the legal authority to do it in the first place, but it's similar to an injunction where the court decides that until a final ruling is made, it's in the government's interest to allow the act to continue.
Fuck your for making me read the article to grab a quote!
Roberts issued the temporary, administrative stay because he handles emergency appeals arising from the nation’s capital by default.
His order contained no explanation, as is typical, and it does not necessarily indicate how the court will decide the case. Roberts ordered Slaughter’s lawyers to respond in writing by next Monday.
It sounds like "Trump has the temporary power to fire whoever, but no one after that!"
Furlough?
It means the chair is fired but the law suit over the firing will continue and if they win the lawsuit they will be reinstated otherwise they stay fired.
Im assuming basically saying something along the line of "this one time you're allowed to fire someone, but next time you have to go through the proper channels"
It means the chair is fired but the law suit over the firing will continue and if they win the lawsuit they will be reinstated otherwise they stay fired.
I'm expecting that the corrupt and compromised Supreme Court is going to refuse to hear anything more on all of these "temporary" rulings they're issuing, which will effectively make them permanent.
Yeah, but it also gives him the convenient ability to undo that ruling If a Democrat were ever to be elected, which, granted, is looking less and less likely.

Crooked judge sides with Trump again.
John Roberts is a cowardly traitor and I wish death upon him. Everyday I wake and hope that some hopeless person has finally figured out a way to do him and all those like him. This Conservative SCOTUS majority deserves the messiest and most painful of ends.
[They receive] checks and [their bank] balances [go up].
And so we know for certain who owns who.
Congratulations on the new RV, Roberts!
John Roberts stood in front of the firing squad.
His voice had a slight quaver. "Dammit, I don't like it, but the president has every right to order my death— it's the only way to have a true unitary executive."
And to the staccato of gunfire Roberts died with a serene smile on his face; he knew that he did his duty to the end.
