Trump risks economic calamity by tampering with Fed independence

All that matters to him is loyalty. He doesn't care what damage that loyalty causes. He's been profiting from the presidency since his first term, and that will continue even in a recession/depression.

Regardless of whatever Trump is up to this week, the Fed shouldn’t be independent; it should be dismantled. The Fed’s existence as the cartel of US private banks is an economic calamity.
