Internal passports?
Like the one my wife grew up with in Russia? Where you have to register with the police on arrival in town.
(I did, when I arrived for a vacation (not work), and the police had literally never had that happen before, so they noted it in the station log book and told me to go away. Via my translator gf-to-become-wife.)

Well they think the world is anti racist now. The hierarchy is the wrong way around. (Have not done a search for 'the progressive stack' yet but likely it has come up)
