Air Force wants Tesla Cybertrucks for target practice
“The Cybertruck’s aggressively angular and futuristic design, paired with its unpainted stainless steel exoskeleton, sets it apart from competitors typically using painted steel or aluminum bodies,” the Air Force wrote in contract documents. “Additionally, its 48V electrical architecture provides superior power and efficiency, a feature that rivals are only beginning to develop.”
Are we sure this isn't just a taxpayer-funded Tesla ad?
I'm so tired of idiocracy coming true.
Yeah. I can almost understand the idea of "we need to check our guidance system can track unusually shaped trucks". But what the fuck does "48V superior power and efficiency" have to do with bombing it? This is an outright ad.
Presumably not moving targets.
Spray with water, wait 5 minutes, spray the rust spots as soon as they appear. Best video game ever.
« The U.S. Air Force wants to purchase two Tesla Cybertrucks as targets for precision-guided munitions, citing concerns that adversaries may start using them in the future. »
Why buy a CyberStuck when you can have a Toyota Hilux for the fraction of the price and be sure that it will turns when ask too
Apparently the USAF thinks their future adversaries are a) stupid, and b) devoid of any hint of taste.
WTF? Is this normal? Or is it some sort of error?
If that is real and normal, how can that car be street legal? How Does it not count as slip in the steering?
Here (EU) we have strict rules against slip in the steering, which by the way Tesla model 3 flunk more than any other car at mandatory safety check here in Denmark.
Is this not essentially just the government buying cybertrucks? i.e. taxpayers paying for them?
Well, two cybertrucks, yes.
Although it says they don't have to be working, just have tires and be able to roll.
I hope they take videos.
Only two? That won't empty TESLA lots.
Tldr. Are they going to set them on auto pilot and shoot them?
the teslars has the ability to lock on to pedestrians and run them over.
I was so hoping the police and/or ICE would be outfitted with CTs before the breakup. That would have been a much better option.
This is funny, but it's probably just more grift. Tesla is having trouble selling off Cybertrucks. This is taxpayers buying a couple of them off of their hands.
I approve of how they plan to use them, however.
