Weird, I thought Unix/linuxes did this decades ago, at least in the OS, and the problem was maintaining the old api/datatype for applications.
…. But I stopped paying attention after finishing my time at y2k remediation. Surely that caught enough attention that we wouldn’t be foolish enough to do it again? Right?
