Holy shit.
I've dabbled a bit in writing tech articles. I was published in a print magazine >20 years ago, and I think I got around $300 for it. More recently, a few articles I did for a niche tech website went for $100 each.
$30/article? For a site that has Vice behind it? Yeah, pretty easy to walk away from that money.

Vice really is garbage.
Good on nu-Waypoint but I do want to make it clear:
This is not the Waypoint that made a name for social justice oriented reporting and leftist gaming content. They all got fired/driven out over the years. Austin Walker has nine million side hustles but is mostly over at Friends at the Table, Natalie Watson has a fucking BAFTA as part of Half Mermaid, and Rob/Chia/Patrick are now Remap. And the rest of the crew have also moved on.
This is the Waypoint that Vice created because they decided they wanted to have a gaming outlet again after firing old Waypoint. And mad props to Valens et al for standing up for THEIR writing but... big ol' asterisk.
Lemme take a guess here: mgmt are going this start complaining that human written articles are dropping off in quality so they will need to focus more on AIGen content.
I have very little respect for Valens' writing after seeing articles spreading lies and essentially striking out at a vtuber company for being rejected by them. Vice is crap, but Valens is no better.
